I would be intersted in feedback also. I have a mix that only does well on average kibble and this looks better than some of the other foods out there.
Sometimes there really are dogs who do best on "trashy" foods for one reason or another. I had one dog who needed a diet with corn in it. The food he did best on was Bil-Jac Select. I finally guessed he had trouble processing linoleic acid, and when I simply supplemented that instead, he did well on any food.
Some dogs need high levels of insoluble fiber. Using a reduced fat or a senior or diet version of a food might be an answer for those dogs. I used to use Canidae Platinum to transition dogs from grocery store foods to more concentrated super premium diets. Diamond Naturals makes a senior food that is very similar to the reformulated Platinum now. I've also used that one.
Some senior foods also are formulated to be easy to digest - the Platinum is definitely in that category, and so are all of Bil-Jac's formulas. Californa Natural makes foods that are super simple, just a few ingredients, for dogs that don't do well on the "kitchen sink" formulas.
Most of these foods are at least in the Eukanuba price range, and most are much less expensive.
So one doesn't need to throw the baby out with the bath water.
