Cheza loves fruit

    Cheza loves fruit

I've never had a dog that likes it as much as her. She is crazy about it. The other day I caught her coffee table surfing, and she was gorging herself on blueberries! Luckily no stomach effects from that.

Is there any fruit other then grapes that I need to worry about? When dh and I eat our fruit we have been giving her little bits of it as well. She seems to like berries the most. Blueberries are her fav with raspberries in a close second. She also is crazy about melon. Salem thinks she is weird. He would rather eat dirt then any type of fruit.

Pirate loves FIGS. In our neighborhood, we have a fig tree, and he's obsessed with them.

I think apple cores are bad (the seeds or something?) but I don't know what else!

Grapes and raisins are pretty much it for fruit.  No onion.  There is arsenic in many seeds and pits, but it would take pounds of seeds, and a stomach more capable of reducing the seeds to a pulp, to see ill effects.  My sheep have eaten windfall apples and pears for years with no problems.  Still, if I actually give an apple I will core it - it's more pleasant that way anyway.

Oh, don't let a dog eat a corn cob.  Corn is fine, but the cob is not digestible so it's basically like eating wood chunks - it's likely to get stuck, even if the dog crunches it up.

And I've assisted in corn cob removal surgery. It's not pleasant, at all.

Ena is a HUGE fan of fruit, too. If she were big enough, she'd knock you over and steal the bananas from you.

She and Zhi had better not meet then!  Zhi has a move where she ricochets off the back of your knees and if you aren't fairly agile, you will take a nosedive.  Big Smile  I've pretty much discouraged her from doing this but she still takes unwary strangers by surprise every so often.

Oh, Ena knows that trick. She just hasn't figured out that it can get her food, yet. She's taken me by surprise.... three or four times? and made me hit the ground, LOL. It's good that I'm young and fairly durable...
