I knew it! I just knew it!!!

Maze has allergies to Grain and Wheat. No biggie. But I knew in my gut that there was something else she can't eat. .Well. .I found it.

*drumroll* CHICKEN! *dies of frustration* So right now I've got a bag of chicken dog food at home which is causing her to literally pull out her fur. .So now the wonderful thrill of finding a new food for her to eat as well as doesn't make my wallet cry. I've got a sample bag of Californa Natural Herring and Sweet Potatoe so if she eats that, I'm going to buy a small bag and try her on that.

Maze has allergies to Grain and Wheat.

If she's allergic to grain, be aware that Cal.Nat Herring/Sweet Potato does contain both barley and oatmeal.(grains)

You may want to check out the this list of grain-free foods for viable options for Maze.

I suggest wellness core ocean. No chicken, no grains, reputable company.

Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be. Woobie's allergic to chicken as well. I used it for a training treat the other day and he's been itching alot lately! :( Have you thought about home prepared meals?

Wellness Core Ocean is WONDERFUL. I keep a bag around for emergencies.

BUUUT Maze is small right? Come to the dark side :) of homecooked. We're nice here...we have cookies.

I think that the Natural Balance Allergy formulas are grain free (although I feed the canned variety, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong about the dry) My chicken allergic Ginger eats it (she also has a lot of stomach issues and it seems to keep those at bay) and does quite well. Not sure of the price of the dry (as she eats the canned..and only half a can per day) but the canned food isn't too horridly priced

I recommend Wellness CORE Ocean and Orijen Fish. Both are fish based, but grain free.

- Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream

- Orijen Fish

- Wellness Core Ocean

It's shame Nature's Variety products have chicken fat in all the formulas, because they have a nice grain free rabbit kibble.

I can't recommend NB formulas anymore if your dog has chicken allergies. Ben reacts to even the supposedly chicken/poultry free formulas. I don't believe they are making quite the effort they used to, to avoid cross contamination.

Ben does not react to Wellness Core or TOTW. I have had problems with Timberwolf as well. I can't get a straight answer from them on whether their formulas actually have egg and chicken fat in them as well.

I finally gave up last November and went all raw with Ben. It's cheaper than premium foods without chicken. Except maybe TOTW but I don't want to become a one-note Johnny when my dog's health depends on the company I'm using, having all their ducks in a row. Ducks, get it? Ha!

I agree. It's cheaper and safer to make your own food. You can use a crock pot, and that makes it super EASY, too. Everything gets all soft and squishy, and they just LOVE IT.

Surprisingly enough oatmeal and barley don't bother her but everything else does.. She's been eating Lamb and Oatmeal with no problems*sigh* She loves the Californa Natural Herring and Sweet Potatoe and Nature's variety Potatoe and Fish (I think). So trip to the pet store tomorrow..

And no Maze isn't small. Lol. She's about 50lbs. I am starting to make her own treats though so we'll see how that goes. Right now I can't afford to feed completely homecooked but my final goal is to try her on a Raw diet...

Alot of the food suggested I can't get here so I'm working with a limited amount. If the new foods don't work then I'm going to switch her completely to Nature's Variety even thou it is exspencive..

Oatmeal and Barley are considered a Cool carb , they do not feed tumors and cancers. Potato is another cool carb. Corn, Wheat, Soy and Rice are all hot carbs, you can watch certain tumors grow aggressively when a dog is fed these.
