    Smart pet treats....anyone having issues

    with them??

I've tried 2 different formulas over the course of 5-6mnths, salmon & duck, with several week breaks in between where I'll feed other treats. While feeding these treats; i.e. we started with the bag of duck treats, where the dogs may have 2-3 of them in a day, nothing else in their diets have changed.....2 of the 3 dogs started, over the time course of a week, acting different, like something was bothering them, but with no real symptoms.

So, we stopped the duck treats bout 4 mnths ago, dogs returned to normal within a few days, all the while eating same diet they always have, mostly homecooked of chicken, turkey, salmon, veggies, and brown rice....their treats became either carrots, peices of apple, broccoli, etc...all remained normal.

Bout 2 weeks ago, I found a 2nd bag of Salmon Smart pet treats in my cupboard that I forgot we had bought 6 mnths prior....figured, what the heck, I couldn't find anything wrong with them, expiration date was fine....again, started giving 2-3 treats/strips a day, but I'd make the little guys share a strip between them.

Again, 2 of my 3 dogs are acting weird again, no real alarming symptoms, just one hiding more then usual, being grouchy, panting harder, and the other dog being quieter then usual....same symptoms as before with the duck strips of the same company.

3rd dog, who's quite a bit bigger; i.e. 53# versus 6#'s is not having any symptoms however.

With all the recalls in the last few years, it just has me wondering if anyone else has had issues....paranoid I know, but nothing else in their lives have changed.

fwiw, I dumped the last of those treats, perhaps there's nothing wrong with them, but 2 of my 3 dogs just are not in agreement.

I'm not familiar with these treats but are they made in China; many treats sold by American companies are made there. I buy Jessie turkey strips at PetsMart marketed by a company called Smokehouse Treats. PetsMart also carried other treats by the company (chicken, duck and sweet potato) but pulled them from the shelves after customers complained about their pets having symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. Turns out they were made in China; the turkey strips are made in the U.S. I will not buy treats unless the package says they were made in the U.S.
