So we tried the Drs F/S food

Cleo loves the wet stuff...and the dry she seemed to really like. That surprised me as she's not a huge eater in general...hence the wet food topping.

BUT she's become a bit itchy...and that could be due to blowing coat....that does it to many a dog...but it did time out right around the same time as the dry. When we're done with it I am going back onto the Nutro to see what happens with the itchies.

The hounds and Buck are fine on it...but they seem like they'd be fine on anything, not picky and they keep good coat and weight on just about anything.

It was a good experiment and her poops seem fine and all that. Once I figure out the itching I'll make a final judgement. I looked for a nice food Petsmart had listed on site at my store but no luck..being that the shipping is laughable I won't be ordering it. Might poke around the feed store for it...even tho the dusty bags there kinda worry me haha!

Cleo's beautiful; I hadn't heard of Leonbergers until you got her. She has such a sweet face. I assume you're trying the puppy chicken and rice; if she was doing good on the Nutro she should do good on this since it has slightly more Omega 3 and the same amount of 0mega 6. I feed the Nutro Large Breed Lamb and Rice to Jessie because of the fatty acids and extra protein, and she far less dandruff on it than any holistic food I've tried. Hopefully her itching is from blowing coat and not a food allergy; she could also be allergic to tree pollen, which has been high the last few weeks. I hope it's not a food allergy as it takes a lot of time to detect which foods are causing the problem. For example, the veterinary dermatologist put Jessie on an elimination diet a few years ago and we learned she's allergic to chicken, salmon, pork, brewer's yeast, and white and sweet potatoes. The process took many months and careful record keeping, but was worth it. Anyway, I hope you don't have to go that route with Cleo; sending non-itching vibes your way.

Oh gosh no...no puppy food of any kind. No no with a Giant. She's just on regular adult formula...she had no itching on that...but it was colder then LOL.

We'll get it sorted out. Right now the itchies are far from constant, and her skin underneath looks great.

I'll be adding some fishy squeezings to her food soon too I think.

Oops; Embarrassed I forgot that she's a large breed; how big will she get?
