How much should a 2 yr old GSD be fed?

It depends on what food you are giving it.

How much should a 2 yr old GSD be fed?

How tall is she and how much does she weigh?  My GSD is 4 and I feed her 2.5-3 cups of food total a day, sometimes she doesn't eat it all.

Its lamb & rice from Costco, we dont have the bag because we store their food in an container.

Jake is 2 we feed about 6 cups, Jennie will be 2 in july we feed her the same, she finish`s all her food, is much heavier than Jake,

And Jake doesnt finish his food all the time, we feed once a day, in the evening. Jake isnt heavy at all.

6 cups or 6 scoops?  I don't know many dogs of ANY breed that can actually eat SIX cups of food each day.  Mind get 5-6 scoops, but it's a 1/2 cups scoop.

that seems like a lot of food..........

Just looking up the feeding guidelines online and it says that a 60-80lb dog should get 4 1/4 to 5 1/4 cups of food per day. So 6 is probably way too much. You can reasonably cut that back to 5 cups per day and be safe. You want to be able to feel your dogs ribcage through its fur. If you can't feel ribs then the dog needs to lose weight.

There are a lot of foods out there that you'll have to feed less of. They might cost a little more but you save in the long run because your food lasts longer. Some examples are Taste of the Wild (3 cups per day), Wellness Supermax (2 1/2 to 3 cups per day), Canidae (2-3 cups per day) and so on.

Look at your dogs stools. Are they really large? You should be shooting for feeding the least amount of cups per day to keep your dog in decent shape weight wise, the dog should have a nice shiny coat with no dry skin and small stools.

Thanks Jewlieee,Jake you can feel his ribs, but he doesnt usually eat all his food, Jennie on the other hand eats all hers.

And you cant feel her ribs, so we`ll be cutting back on the food by 1 cup.

How much depends on a number of things.  Size of dog, activity level and the kcals in the food.

My dogs get 3 cups of kibble in the morning at 490 kcals per cup.  Their homecooked varies between 450-500 kcals per cup and they get two cups of that at night.  So, my german shepherds, ranging from 65-90 lbs get roughly 2400 or 2500 kcals per day.  They are not working dogs, but get some good running every day...still I wouldn't call them more than moderately active.  I can easily SEE the end of the rib cage in all of them, but I don't like to keep them lean enough to see individual ribs.
