    Roasted Garlic ?????

Is there any reason why I shouldn't give Jamison some roasted garlic gloves mixed in with his dinner?  Is there any limit as to how much/or number of cloves to give him?  He just goes wild over the stuff - and I was wondering if there is anything that could harm him in anyway.

As always - thanks for your help.

It's a controversial subject. By that I mean that some people say it's fine and even good for dogs and some say that garlic is in the onion family and shouldn't be given to dogs. I'm in the first camp. My dogs have gotten garlic over the years, a daily clove in mosquito season, as it keeps the mosquitoes away. I know many racing greyhound owners give their dogs garlic every day.

    The Healing Properties of Garlic

According to the Whole Dog Journal, small amounts of garlic not only act as a natural flea repellant, but garlic can be used for its wonderful antifungal and antibacterial properties. It also promotes the production of white blood cells thereby acting as an immune booster for dogs with low or compromised immunity and may benefit dogs with diabetes by helping reduce blood-sugar levels.

We repeat . . . it would take up to 50 cloves for garlic to be harmful to your dog!

PS. B'asia likes roasted garlic, too. Wink

This is very interesting to me as I am currently dealing with both yeast and bacterial ear infections.  I didn't know that garlic has antifungal and antibacterial properties.  I was just given some medications for Heidi over the next couple of weeks, but it wouldn't hurt to add some garlic to her meals.  And, if it wards off mosquitos and fleas...bonus!

I think you should mix some roasted garlic cloves into MY meals. YUM!

I have nothing to add, just that I'm jealous of your dog's dinner, LOL
