Running beside a bike

Sorry, I don't have any other method better than just letting the dog practice running along the bike with some voice commands like heel when he's pulling ahead, and left, right and stop.  I actually don't use much of voice commands anymore since my dog knows the bike routine. I sometimes have to yell "hey" when she wants to go after something or when she is too close to the wheel but it's not often.  I do say "com'n, com'n" when I want her to run faster. As for the falling off the bike, you could bike on the grass or better yet start slowly with the dog and you just walking beside the bike and after he gets good with that than you can hop on the bike and go very slowly at first until he gets used to the idea and so on.  My dog loves biking and she would rather go for a bike ride than a walk anyday.

I never thought about walking beside the bike first.. (See this is why I ask! Lol) Sad thing with training my last dog, is I was on grass for that! Lol..

I hope Maze likes it. She needs to run and I don't have anywhere to take her.. *sigh* Walking is great but after she gets a bad case of the Zoomies so I know it wasn't long enough/ fast enough for her.

 I bike with Belle. She INSISTS on being in front of the bike and my big thing is she crosses it path. She is improving. She is nuts when we start she just wants to run so fast, I don't mind going that fast but not attached to her. I am fortunate at the park by us I can have her off leash to do this. I try to start the year that way then introduce the leash as needed. I hope to introduce Teddi to the bike this year.

What I want to find is a nice harness, I hate being attached to their necks while we do this. I do have to also say Belle got smart, when I apply my bike brakes she slows too. She loves biking so much, I think she is determined to make it work. My biggest issue is when she suddenly stops to do doggie business. I have to be ready to STOP!!!

 Where would I attach the leash in the beginning? And would it be a good idea to buy a harness instead of using her collar? If so what harness would you recommend? She can't use a harness with a ring in the center of her chest. It pulls out her fur...

I'd probably walk her before so she's empty so I don't have to worry about suddenly stopping.. Lol.. 

I don't bike, even without my dog, but my neighbors do a lot of miles with their dog and use the Springer or Bikerdog attachment, or one similar.  The harnesses have rings on the side.

Thankfully Maze is leery of strange cats so I'm not worried about that.. However I am worried about riding past another dog.. She just HAS to say hi so I may end up over the handle bars a couple times.. Lol.

LOL I'll make a confession - I tried biking with Bugsy last week and on day 3 I thought we could head down the drive safely but his nemesis the neighbor's cat was waiting and bang down I went - OUCH! 

Yes.. That evil cat! Lol. My eldest cat waits for us to start our walk then once Maze sees him, she'll slingshot her self to the end of the leash and end up on her butt cuz Kameo has learned the length of the leash.. Lol.
