Raw meat, good idea or bad?

Raw meat, good idea or bad?

    Greetings All,

I'm having lamb chops for dinner, any harm in giving Sasha, my Dobermann, a raw one?

As always I'd be interested in hearing your opinions.

     Thanks

If she's used to raw meat!  Otherwise you could be cleaning up a mess in a few hours, lol.  If she doesn't get raw meat regularly, she could have a little tidbit (a couple ounces, or cut the raw meat from the raw bone and give the raw bone to her).

Irish/UK lamb or imported?  If from "down under" watch that it's not too fatty (look at the amount of marbling).  UK lamb, grown from the three tier system, tends to be quite lean.

    Sláinte!

Both of my dogs eat raw meat exclusively.  They've never been healthier, but listen to Becca, a dog that is not used to raw meat might have a hard time digesting too much all at once.

Irish lamb naturally nothing but the best Big Smile Gave Sasha a small off cut and she nearly jumped into the pan after the rest!

Thanks for the replies I can now file the myth of feeding raw meat leading to aggression under b for bin!

FTR My guys get raw meat/bones on a daily basis.Raw meaty bones have sooooo many great health benefits for them. After all this is their natural diet,i'm sure dogs that never get real meat crave it Sad

When I first started thinking about feeding my dogs a raw diet, a friend of mine told me she would never do that because to her it wasn't worth the risk of making her dogs aggressive.  She said she knew a guy on one of her wolf hybrid boards that had a dog that got ahold of a raw steak once and became aggressive right afterwards.  She couldn't understand why I laughed out loud at her.  I told her then that my thought was, "If dogs became aggressive from eating raw meat, how on earth did they become domesticated in the first place?"  Perhaps a select group of wolves preferred to cook their meat and as a result took a second look at working out a deal with mankind?
