HALP! Need new food for Eko

The basics: Eko is 4.5 months and 50 lbs of large breed puppy. He's in good health BUT - we have poop issues.

His food is Innova large breed puppy, and he gets various things added in. (Which I'm cutting back on). His average poop is too soft. Formed, but icky and not easy to pick up. After a raw bone, he went liquid. Eep. :( He's been vet checked, and came back free of parasites and bacteria. He's gaining weight, energetic, and shiny.

But the poop. Must change. He obviously has a sensitive tummy. I'd like to avoid beef, since the raw bone that went wonky was beef. Then again, the raw turkey neck was bad too. Oh yes, his gas could kill.

    Suggestions?

If it was a raw bone with lots of marrow that could of done it.  The marrow is very rich and it takes some dogs some time to adjust.  I know some people who take the marrow out.

Has Eko  had soft stools the whole time he has been on Innova, or just since the raw bone.?  If it's been since he started Innova I would change him over to a lamb I feed California Natural to my Shep..She had problems with chicken that caused her to have ear infections and soft stools ..you might want to try that see if there is a difference

I quite liked the blue buffalo lge breed puppy it is still chicken based.  The raw bone probably was too rich.

One I never used it but would have if I'd known about it - SG Wolfcub

whatever you do make a slow transition and may be feed a bit less.  Too much food can cause soft poops (and I remember clearly that for Bugsy there was no such thing as too much food).  So may be just cut back a bit and see if that helps.  Eggs can cause problems which is another reason to try one of the above - my experience is that they can cause some bad gas.

Eagle pack is always recommended but does contain egg.

Poor Eko I hope you get it something that's easier for the little big guy Wink

I agree on cutting back the food, a little. That can really make a difference. It's way too easy to overfeed a voracious puppySmile or a voracious PRT!

I think we'll give Wolf Cub a try. His poops have been soft since innova, but went downhill after the raw stuff. I'm pretty sure we don't feed him too much, as I tend to err on the side of too thin. (I'm paranoid of him growing too quickly).

Thank you all for your help!
