Blue Buffalo

    Blue Buffalo

I am thinking of switching Tootsie to the blue buffalo Fish and Sweet Potato. She is currently on EP Holistic Fish and is doing fine, but where I get the EP has raised their prices. A lot. What are you opinions?

I have my lil Westie on Blue Buffalo... It seems to be working well.  His coat looks healthier.  It did take sometime for him to eat the vita nuggets, but he like them now.

Pirate LOVED the BB Fish and Sweet Potatoe. He seemed to have dry skin while he was on it, but it was the DEAD of winter and we had the heat on, too.

My opinion is a bit biased since DS works for Blue, but I switch around between the large breed, fish and lamb and they do wonderfully on all three.

I feed my three Westies and my Golden Blue Buffalo.  The Golden and Belle, the oldest Westie, get Senior.  Treasure and Olivia get eigher the Salmon and Sweet Potatoes and I think the Chicken.  They have been very healthy thus far.

I really like their canned foods- the salmon especially. Haven't tried any of their kibbles, but they look ok.

I would LOVE to try the salmon!  It has sweet taters and asparagus no?  The beef looks good as well, but, our PS only carries the chicken and lamb.

They keep promising DS an 8 foot section  (now he has a 4 foot and an endcap) and with that will come some additional variety.  Promises, promises.......

Casey's been on it for almost a year now, doing great! He's got skin problems, and the BB seems to really help! We rotate formulas and meats.

I tried Blue at some point, and Cherokee actually would NOT eat it. She's not "picky", but some foods..Science Diet, Iams, Eukanuba (ohhh the days when I thought those were the best foods I could get.. I actually did a fair bit of reading about dog food and ingredients, but didn't stumble upon "holistic" foods til right around the time I joined i-dog)..and apparently Blue Buffalo, she'd rather go hungry than eat. I'm really intrigued by the food with its "Lifesource bits" or whatever, and the ingredients are nice (although maybe a little too grainy for my liking), but the pup won't eat it, so...

     Thanks for the feedback!

The Blue organic has only oatmeal as I remember, and the wilderness line is grain free.  Those life source bits are a patented cold form process, since heat destroys nutrients.  DS tells me that as with any super premium food, the dogs get everything that they need from the kibble, but the life source bits are a "bonus" of vitamins, minerals and antioxidents.  The whole premise behind Blue...the founder lost a dog to cancer and started looking at toxins in dog food, and environmental toxins and made a food to help combat those things.  That's the offical story anyhow.  Just got some fish and sweet tater for my crew and they LOVE it!  I can actually use it as a treat they love it so much!

Blue Organic is really grainy, like most organics. It has oatmeal, millet, rice, barley and just in case that wasn’t enough carbs, potatoe too. And that's behind chicken, not chicken meal. Edited: There is chicken meal further down in the food, but it is not organic.

Yep, you're right.  Wish I knew what food I was thinking of then.....

Yeah, that is a problem for me.  The Petsmart by me and it seems to be all of them here have very little shelf space for canned food.  The most I can get is 3 cases (36 cans) at a time and that last a little over a week.  Plenty of space for the large bags of kibble, so no problem there.

DPU, I'd talk directly to the manager and ask them to order what you need.  I know that they can't order beyond a certain % of what they have sold in the last however many weeks, but I bet they can find a way around that if they know that it's sold before it's even ordered.
