Question on adding suppliments to my Dog's diet...

Hi I'm relatively new to the forum although I have been lurking and reading every day. I'm interested in giving my puppy a few extra supplements, but I'm a bit unsure of how to get started.

I'm currently feeding a rotation of Wellness: Just for Puppy and Merrick to my 5 month old female Chihuahua puppy. I'm feeding a little bit less than the recommended daily amounts because I'm mixing in some of the canned Wellness: Just for Puppy so she gets a little more moisture in her food since she doesn't seem to drink much.

A lot of people here give their dogs other supplements in their diet either in pill form, paste form or just natural things like eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese ect.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on where to buy these products (obviously I don't need to know where to buy eggs, lol) and how to feed the proper amounts? She's a little over 5 lbs, so I don't want to give her too much and cause some kind of toxicity issue.

Any help or insight on the whole process would be greatly appreciated!

I've got chi's too!!! One is about 16 months and the other 5 months.  I give them a few supplements.  They get either Halo's dreamcoat or Salmon oil.  If I give salmon oil they get vitamin E supplementation as well.  I also give Wysong's addlife daily to their morning meals.   For the dreamcoat I give each about 3-5 cc and the salmon oil about 1/2 pump each.  The vit E I give about 20-40 IU daily.  They addlife they get 2-3 shakes/day.  I feed kibble with canned in the morning as you do but I feed premade dehydrated or frozen raw at dinner.  It's actually pretty easy and not too expensive with small dogs.  I supplement the raw with occasional cottage cheese, plain yogurt, RMB's, and just recently with turkey necks.  The possiblities are endless ;)

The dreamcoat I have gotten at wholefoods and the vitaminshoppe, the salmon oil at several local petstores (even petco carries it).  The add life I've gotten from onlynaturalpet.com which for some reason some people dislike and from a local petshoppe.  Vitamin E oil from the vitaminshoppe too.  (vitaminshoppe is a chain but have a website too vitaminshoppe.com)
