My dog is a freak (poop talk)

My dog is a freak (poop talk)

I'm guessing that the lamb I made is really working, for Emma. She needs some digestive enzymes, since it's cooked, but... wow. Em has never had really nice poops. She has some sort of undiagnosed GI issue (we think it's mild IBD, she doesn't tolerate any kibble, and has some major allergies), and I've come to accept that in 4 years, I have seen a lot of mushy, squishy, not fully digested poop. She is out and about with me, a lot, so I do notice these things. When she's worried about something, it'll be liquid, and if she gets something that disagrees with her, it's uncontrollable liquid, tinged with blood. This is Emma. It's how it's always been, and I have an arsenal of things that help and things that REALLY don't help.

This weekend, at the dog show, she had perfect poops, all weekend. Perfect! I couldn't believe my eyes, when I picked up her poop and there was no smeary nastiness left on the grass. Then, she did it again. And again. I am in shock and disbelief. Is it the lamb? I would think that being at a dog show would make her poop the opposite of perfect, if anything. She loves showing, but it's stressful to be out of town, around a zillion-ty-seven new people and dogs.  I've also slammed her gut with several new supplements all at once, recently, and she didn't even respond. I'm completely impressed. I may feed her lamb, forever, if this is what it's going to do for her!

    Awesome!!!

For my guy, the perfect stools are always beef related.  He does eat other meat protein sources, ( mainly venison, bison, turkey) without problems, but beef will always give the best overall results.

The really sad thing is... I haven't fed her much lamb. Usually, just in treats. I just randomly decided that she needed lamb, and went out and bought her some. She does great on beef, too, and I feed her a pretty varied diet. I've just never seen consistent, firm poops out of her. It's incredible.

I'm sitting here chuckling to myself at how thouroghly excited I am for you.  Having gone through the same type of thing with Crusher but for only about a year and a half, I do understand what it means when a normally, shall we say 'Fluid' dog gets firm.  Getting down there to pick up the poop, then reaching your papertowel hand out and realizing there's nothing left is such an exhilarating feeling.

Some dogs don't do well on change.   Have you ever thought of the water your dog drinks at different locals ?  Treats can cause upsets as they are very high in fat.  If you look at the fat levels in treats you never see a Max listed. Only the Min. If you call the manufacturer and ask sometimes they will tell you the content is 50 + %

Emma drinks bottled water, at home, and when we travel. She won't drink chlorinated water. Smart dog.

Treats are no fattier than what she's used to. This has been an issue, regardless of dietary indiscretion, for over 4 years. This dog poops out whole kibble, covered in mucous. She is *not* a normal, sensitive dog. She gots issuesWink

I'm laughing at myself,  Candace. You should have seen me cleaning up minty vomit, last night. I completely cracked myself up. I'm way too easily amused.

Oh I heard!  Teenie got into some gum huh?  Maybe she was jealous of all the attention Miss Emma has been getting?  LOL.

I was talking about cleaning up dog poop with my sister and she was almost gagging.  I didn't even notice until I looked at her.  Its just such a normal part of my day...well I gotta talk about something...Confused

I think she did want her own piece of the attention. It's been such a week, LOL. Highs and lows like you wouldn't believe. We had a horrible day, Friday. Saturday was great fun. Sunday was great, then Teenie ate gum and scared the crap out of me. Emma's poops have been great through the whole thing, though, LOL!

I've been there---it's not pretty.  I'm just glad my guy isn't the only one to leave this little "surprise"

It sure is nice when you get firm, consistent poops, though.
