how much egg?

 An egg a day shouldn't be too much for small dogs, if you're feeding it as a treat. Mine like eggs as a meal. That's usually about 4-5 eggs for Emma (18 lbs) and 2-3 for Teenie (11 lbs).

no. i will still add their kibble, so not a meal in itself. o whole egg a day, huh? cool!

this may be a dumb question, but can you freeze raw egg?

 Yup! You sure can! They like scrambled eggs, too. I'd take out a little of the kibble, when you add the egg, if they're prone to getting chubby.

yeah, i probably will, but for now they should be ok to put on a BIT of winterweight. jason is such a skinny boy. hehe.

i dont have the kongs yet, but i gave them egg on their kibble this morning. now since i started to work last week, jason hasent been finishing his breakfast anymore. he's the type that will refuse food if anything upsets him even a bit. today though he gobbled it up so fast, i couldnt believe my eyes! lol.

should i be at all concerned about salmonella though?

I normally don't worry too much about germs in raw food. Dogs are made to handle it, and *I* have eaten raw egg many, many times with no ill effects (ever eaten cookie dough?). Right now, Emma is on Prednisone, which is an immune suppressing drug, so I do worry about the germs. Unless yours are super sensitive, or on some mega drugs, then I wouldn't.

oh ok. i mean i do like my egg a bit liquid inside as well. but then again i dont eat a whole raw egg everyday, that's why i was wondering. i think they are generally pretty healthy. i guess i'll be buying a lot of egg in the future thanks for the help! :)

Egg is good for them.  Someone on the GSD forum gives her dog one meal a day that's JUST egg.  I give Kenya a raw egg every few days.  I'd probably give her one everyday if I felt like paying for all those eggs! 

I put 2 eggs in Lillie's food everyday.Every since I started adding eggs to her food her coat has gotten so shiny everyone always comments on it. I thought about buying a hen to lay eggs for me but then I would have to feed her and worry about something eating her so I will just stick to buying them. I get lucky though sometimes and some of my friends on WIC give me their eggs if they cant use them all.
