My are golden retrievers. Honey will be 6 in Dec and is fed Purina One weight management. KayCee turned 8 on Aug. and was on purina One Senior, bu i had troubl finding it when i went to ge some and ended up getting nutro Senior---until i can locate purina One Senior aain.
I also crock pot cook for them. I mae a chickne ste 9cooked 24 hours0 of 5 pounds of chicken thighs, about 3 1/2pounds of chicken necks, and 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of either chopped up calf liver, chopped up chicken gizzards, or once ina while gound turkey. a pound bad of frozen green bans and chopp up sweet potatoes, apple, and yellow or green squash.
For brekfast they get one of cup of dry kibble with a spoon of yogurt and a spoon of applesauce added. At night, 5 nights a week, they get aabout 1 1/3 cups of kibble and abnout 1 1/4 cups of the chicken stew. The other two nights they get canned mackeral or canned salmon.
When i crock pot , I leabe out enough for 5 nights and freexe the rest in bags filled with enough to last two nights and freeze--have one thawing for their supper right now.
Okay, i sue Purina because I have owned dogs for 51 years--English Setters, irish Setters and Golden Retievers and they hav all done geat on it. Most lived beyond life expectancy fo the breed. I had a couple back in the 50's die of distemper despite having been vaxxed, but i know now that it was not so good a vax back then anad often brought on the diesease it was to prevent. I had one poisoned. I lost one golden to a heart attack at age 5, and a full brothe, later litter to a heart attack bac k in may..bue he was 12 1/2. My dad's pointes and our English setters all hunted til lae in life. Since it worked so well for all our dogs all these years, and i did try an upper level food once for on of my dogs and it made him sick eery meal for 4 days, i just stick with what has always worked for my dozens of dogs i have owned.
