My are golden retrievers.  Honey will be 6 in Dec and is fed Purina One weight management.  KayCee turned 8 on Aug. and was on purina One Senior, bu i had troubl finding it when i went to ge some and ended up getting nutro Senior---until i can locate purina One Senior aain.

I also crock pot cook for them.  I mae a chickne ste 9cooked 24 hours0 of 5 pounds of chicken thighs, about 3 1/2pounds of chicken necks, and 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of either chopped up calf liver, chopped up chicken gizzards, or once ina  while gound turkey. a pound bad of frozen green bans and chopp up sweet potatoes, apple, and yellow or green squash.

For brekfast they get one of cup of dry kibble with a spoon of yogurt and a spoon of applesauce added.  At night, 5 nights a week, they get aabout 1 1/3 cups of kibble and abnout 1 1/4 cups of the chicken stew.  The other two nights they get canned mackeral or canned salmon.

When i crock pot , I leabe out enough for 5 nights and freexe the rest in bags filled with enough to last two nights and freeze--have one thawing for their  supper right now.

Okay, i sue Purina because I have owned dogs for 51 years--English Setters, irish Setters and Golden Retievers and they hav all done geat on it.  Most lived beyond life expectancy fo the breed.  I had a couple back in the 50's die of distemper despite having been vaxxed, but i know now that it was not so good a vax back then anad often brought on the diesease it was to prevent.  I had one poisoned.  I lost one golden to a heart attack at age 5, and a full brothe, later litter to a heart attack bac k in may..bue he was 12 1/2.   My dad's pointes and our English setters all hunted til lae in life.  Since it worked so well for all our dogs all these years, and i did try an upper level food once for on of my dogs and it made him sick eery meal for 4 days, i just stick with what has always worked for my dozens of dogs i have owned.

I'm feeding Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit. After trying many different kibbles, this is my favorite based on ingredients, availability, price and kibble size (very tiny for Shih Tzu). I also mix in either plain yogurt or canned dog food. I'm going to start adding baby food for more variety. I mix in only one of those per meal and in a very small amount so to not to throw off the nutritional balance of the kibble.

Right now I am feeding Primal premade raw.  We just finished a package of lamb and are about to start on beef.  When I feed kibble, I usually feed cal natural, puppy, lamb and rice.

Taste of the Wild pacific salmon. My dogs are doing awesome on it. One has severe allergies and the other has an extremely sensitive stomach. I love the ingredients and love that the protein level isn't out the roof like some other grain free fish formulas. My dogs do best on fish based formulas and based on ingredients, price, protein level, etc..this is what I chose to try. Their coats are so glossy and shiny.

Boomer: Nature's Variety Prairie Lamb Meal & Oatmeal Medley. This gives better results than anything else we've tried. That includes Innova, California Natural, Timberwolf Organics, Canidae, Eagle Pack, Premium Edge and probably some others I'm forgetting.

Abraxis: Eagle Pack Enhanced Maturity. I needed a transition food from Kibbles 'n Bits to a higher quality food but she did so well on this that I've stuck with it. It's about the only senior formula that isn't protein deficient.

Wylie: Currently Eagle Pack Holistic Select Lamb Meal & Rice. He can't maintain weight on less than 8 cups a day (he's 60 lbs) so I'm in search of something else. Canidae Lamb & Rice or Boomer's food is next.

Shy & Rotten: Eagle Pack Holistic Select Lamb Meal & Rice. They eat this with more enthusiasm than the Nature's Variety and I like the results.

Previous rotation: Nature's Variety Prairie (chicken and rice).  Why? 5/6 stars from Dogfoodanalysis, Corn/soy/wheat free, premium food, what she had been eating before I adopted her, and I could buy a huge bag at cost from her breeder.

Current rotation: Solid Gold Barking at the Moon.  Why?  6/6 stars from Dogfoodanalysis, different protein and carb source than the previous rotation (salmon, beef, and potatoes as opposed to chicken and rice), tested this food and stools stayed solid, she eats it willingly with no toppers.

Future rotations: going to try Canidae ALS and California Natural Lamb & Rice

Already tried Innova EV).  She ate it all right, but her poop was like water and she was hobbling around the yard in a squat, trying to poop every few minutes.

My boys were on canidae lamb and rice for about a year. Switched to evo for a few months, but the stools were too hard and i was paying $45 for a 28# bag...Now i'm feeding eagle pack natural formula (OH MY GOSH!!!!) mixed with evo and nature's variety raw frozen (venison)

I've fed Solid Gold's Barking At The Moon for awhile with great results, but recently moved and have the entire dog food world at my finger tips, so I've been branching out.

I recently bought Instinct (chicken and rice) and Canidae (all stages formula).

The older dog enjoyed the Canidae, but it gave puppy the runs.  Instinct everyone likes, but is too high in calcium for my large breed pup.

So, I'm gonna try orijin next and then find my rotation from there.

I also feed Evangers canned to the older dog (buffalo and braised beef) as she doesn't like raw, but the puppy is fed raw daily.

It's interesting to read what everyone else feeds and the variety the multiple dog owners give!

    • Puppy

I feed primarily Timberwolf Wild & Natural (grain-free) because I have a dog that leaks urine if there is too much grain in the food. I also like the higher protein for senior dogs, and it help with my 10 yr old's arthritis. They also get a forkful of Evangers canned with every meal (Evangers has their own cannery and uses fewer additives than other canned).

I've also used Canidae All Life Stages when transitioning and when I'm strapped for cash. All 3 dogs like it, it's very inexpensive, and gives them a nice coat. It's a good all-around food, but I like the higher protein in the Timberwolf.

Canidae ALS, or Royal Canin Maxi GSD formula kibble, I rotate..  Am trying Innova kibble, again so I can add to the variety.  Also, home cooked, canned Canidae or Innova, canned salmon, mackerel, sardines.
