I feel that this issue has been asked thousands of times in this forum, but i performed some searches using the search engine and I could not find any interesting answers on what i'm looking for.
I need, some kind of book/s than can make me start undestanding the basics of dog obedience, how can i make commands from myself be learnt by the dog as soon as possible to keep on teaching new things as far as possible. I had two dogs so far in 15 years, one a husky was a total rebel i could not manage to teach him nothing and him scaped from my house one day, the second is a boxer and he is pretty completely to be in my house (he scaped twice and he return the day after by itself without any education on this), and actually when i perform some basic commands like sitting, he obbey, but it took me loads of time without any technique, just intuitive.
So since i get my new dog in a few months (will be a Labrador Retriever as far as i know), as a puppy, until he grows older, which proccedure of teaching to be a dog that can do things and be obedient from the beggining. For example, i would like a dog that can go in the car with me without being a trouble, being a social dog, wandering around a lot of people passively without going mad, following me through commands...
The whole idea is, trying to teach all this through reading of books (or watching/listening media). The ones that i have selected by now are:
Really Reliable Recall (Is a DVD)
My dog pulls, what do i do?
Parenting your dog
Right on Target! Taking dogs training to a next level.
Any more ideas? Thanks in advance.
