    Clicker training

I've read up on it and want to use this method with Gary. I was wondering how many of you have tried it? and how effective it has been for you?

I use it, I love it, I couldn't live without it, and I'll never go back.

we and our dogs love it. the dogs learned commands quickly, and would do almost anything to get the click and treat.

I've used it, and I'll likely never train another way. It's a great way to communicate with your dog, so that you both understand what you want from the dog.  I also use a clicker to train *my cat* She knows sit, down, and "here".  She's learning to go over an A-frame and through a tunnel. [:D]  I'm starting to use it to train my horse some tricks, too.  I'm trying to figure out how I can use it with my husband. [;)]

I have just started using it and I love it.  At 9 weeks Ben has a reliable "sit", a reliable "come" and a reliable "wait" (which we use when he is whining to get out of his crate in the morning and I am throwing a t-shirt on).  This is my first time using it, but I don't think I will ever train another way again.

It didn't disappear!  (BTW, the correct spelling is "praise")
The clicker & the treats are used to teach a new behavior, then the treats are faded, so that the dog responds with or without them, and you can praise your dog anytime after the click.  The click is just a signal that tells the dog, in a way he understands every single time, that he has done something right.  Done properly, the dog learns everything he needs to, and does not become dependent upon food to do so.

Clicker training is amazing. Once you try it, it's almost like realizing you've been walking around on only one leg your whole life and now you have two. That's the way it was for me, at least. You may never realize how smart your dogs really are until you start clicker training! [:D]

I tried clicker training with a border collie that was 1 year old and had never had any training, ever.  She learned sit and down in two sessions.  I was convinced at that time!!
