    Cart pulling

Hey! I have a 14 month old Bernese Mountain Dog. I am interested in doing some draft work with him, and am just wondering if any of you have had any experience with this. I've done some research about it, so I feel quite confident going into it, I just want to know if any of you have done this before!! I think Jethro will be good at it, as he is very smart, and responsive. (I think he has a good build for it too...broad chest, square shoulders...it's no wonder though....he's a Berner!!) Thanks everyone.

We teach cart pulling at The PAC.  It is one of my favorite sports.  The attention our dogs getting working all over downtown is great fun.

Feel free to ask me anything.

I prefer to work with Sulkies (check out this site for an example [linkhttp://www.dogscooter.com/dogscooter/carts.html]http://www.dogscooter.com/dogscooter/carts.html[/link]  It isn't exactly cart pulling, but it is so much fun.  It is a great way to tool around the neighborhood, and awesome exercise for the dog.

Thanks for the reply. That sulky looks neat, but we are building our own, making it a wagon style cart. What harness would you recommend for this? Thanks again!

Check out this harness.  It is one of the best I have seen.

Are you going to be leading, or are you going to be in the cart.  That really effects the level of training and type of harness.

I plan on leading him. I figure this will be easiest for now, as he is still young, and is walked on a GL. That harness would only work for a sulky right?
