Too soon for adult food?

    Too soon for adult food?

At what age can Liz begin to eat adult food? I currently have her on Exclusive Chicken and Rice for Puppies (yay for me, no more Beneful!) but the feed shop where I purchase it has the adult food Lamb and Rice and Chicken and Rice. Is it too soon to switch her over? I just want to give her some variety and I don#%92t know if Exclusive carries Lamb and Rice for puppies. I have the owner checking that out for me, since I only bought her an 8lb bag because the big bags need to be ordered.

If it has the Lamb for puppy then great I will switch between chicken and lamb, but if it doesn#%92t can I give her the adult food already? I don#%92t even remember at what age we switched our Golden to adult food, or any dog weve ever owned. Liz is my first on my own dog so I just want to know if im doing things right! Thanks!

By the way, Lizzie is 5 months and 1 week old

It is fine to give her an adult food as long as it is an "all life stages" food and not a "maintenance" food.

If it were me, I'd wait till she is 7-9 months old and then switch to adult (be sure it says it's appropriate for all life stages on the  bag).  Generally you feed more of the adult food to a puppy until they're about a year.

Glad you got her off the beneful, how's she doing on teh exclusive?

She loves it, but Lizzie will eat almost anything I put in her bowl! Im still mixing a bit of Beneful in the food because she has a tad bit left, but I think tomorow she will get 100% Exclusive. Ive been mixing egg along with it and I gave her a bit of pumpkin the first day but she hasnt had the runs so I guess thats good! She likes the pumkin though so I believe I will keep adding that about once a week.

But yes I feel better now that I am feeding a higher quality food, though its too soon to see the really positive effects, I definately have peace of mind!

Its hard to feed a [:'(] food when you know its bad
