    New Food?

I had my American Bulldog on a raw diet for about 2 months but after reading I was conserned that he was not getting what he needed out of it so I put him back on dry food. He has bad skin so I got a bag of Premium Edge Skin & Coat. He has been on it for about 5 days now and I have never seen a dog poop this much! He probely goes 5 to 7 times a day. Isnt this a little much? Oh yea this is the worst smelling poop that I have ever smelled! Is this a hit that maybe this food is not that great for him? Thanks for your time and help.

Definately not a good food for him. If raw worked please keep it up, im sure many members can tell you how to 'balance' out his diet.

There are vitamins and minerals in pill form that will help him get some of the things he is getting from raw alone. Also try supplementing with eggs (fresh if possible) fresh veggies and fruits, cottage cheese and so on.

If you still want him back on kibble he does need a food change, something n that food is not agreeing with him. I think a normal dog should poop from 1-3 times a day, not 5-7. Good luck with him and let us know how he turns out!

That means the foods not good.  He needs a different kind.  They do make premade raw that is all balanced out for you if you want to look into that.  Takes the guesswork out.

If your going to feed him kibble I would find a high quality one that not necessarily designed for skin and coat and simply suppliment his diet with vitamins A, E and fish oil.  Thats your best bet to getting his coat and skin in great condition.

Try a food like Innova, Eagle Pack, Wellness....

Any of the foods on that list would be great.  I can help you with dosage for the vitamins and fish oil if you want.

Sally did thins on Wellness, so we switched her.  I honestly have never fed all raw, so I do not know about balencing, but there are others who know more about it on here.

While this may not be the food for him, I'd suggest giving it a little longer. 5 days isn't all that long and you didn't mention if you switched slowly or cold turkey. He could still be adjusting, switching again could make it worse.

If you were concernedd about not getting the right raw nutrients, maybe you can try to find a holistic vet who can help you do a meal plan. Raw can be nutritionally balanced but it can sometimes be confusing.
