    Royal Canin

I have been doing some research on kibbles for Ben, but being in the UK I don't have access to all of the same foods you do over there.  Honestly, most of the food I can find here is pretty rubbish - Pedigree and its varous competitors.  No Timberwolf, one very pricey mail order place that does Eagle Pack (I do not really want to mail order my dog food), and that's it - except that I discovered today I can get Royal Canin here.

Is this one of the better ones?  He'd be on their maxi babydog for now, and then grow into their Labrador breed food via the maxi junior.  (This is assuming he likes it and it agrees with him.)  I have been reading labels left right and centre and this is by far the "healthiest" I can find - not to mention that I like it being wheat and soya free.

    Any input?

In THIS country RC is a decent, midgrade food with a super premium price tag.  I believe that they have different standards and ingredients in different countries but I'm not positive.  Basically, ya gotta go with the best you can get.

Thanks, Glenda.  I'm still researching but it's difficult here.  I don't think the "healthy dog food" movement has hit the UK in full force yet, which is very frustrating.

Sadly, the movement isn't real mainstream here either.

Can  you get a food called Burns?  I believe it is made in the UK.  It's a little better then Royal Canin.

Decent foods available in the UK:

    Arden Grangehttp://www.ardengrange.com

    Jameswellbelovedhttp://www.wellbeloved.co.uk

Berrimanshttp://www.berrimans.net (this is the one i would feed if i lived in the UK)

and Burns, which i wouldnt feed as it is far too low in fat and protein and most dogs lose a lot of weight on it.

All of the above arent the best, but the best you have in the UK if you know what i mean.

As for the Royal Canin the ingredients are not the same as they are in the US,infact they are pretty terrible [&:] You get your RC from France.

    Edie,

Thanks, that is really helpful.  I am having a look at all of those, I think James Wellbeloved is the most widely available, and they have a fish recipe which is what I would prefer to give him, I think.  I will compare all of those and decide.  :)

    Much appreciated!
