    Eagle Pack Puppy Food

Hi, I'm new to the forum.  We just got two new 8 week old cockapoo puppies.  Right now they are eating Eagle Pack Puppy food (that's what the breeder started them out on).  I'm just wondering what your opinions are as far as which puppy food is best?  I know that Eagle Pack's line of Holistic foods are good but their puppy food has corn in it.  Our pups seem to be doing good on it so I'm not sure if I should change it or not.

I don't feed puppy food and don't know many who do.  I would go right to an all-stages adult food.  The Eagle Pack Holistic kinds are great, also Innova and Canidae are good.

Are you feeding the Eagle  Pack Small Breed puppy in the yellow bag?  If so, I really like that food.

All my small dogs where eating Evo, but I tried Eagle Pack and they did fantastic on it!

My senior Greyhound eats it too.  It is small pieces and higher in protein and fat to help keep muscle tone and weight on him.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Evo isn't recommended for puppies, right?

Evo is fine for most pups.  It is NOT fine for large breed pups, defined by Natura as any breed that will be 50 lbs or larger as an adult.

Yep, it's the small breed formula in the yellow bag.  They seem to be doing really well on it, I just wasn't sure if was the best for them since there's corn in it.

    Welcome to the forum!

Eagle Pack is good.  I have a 5 month old cockapoo puppy and feed Innova Puppy.

Whole grain corn is not a bad ingredient if your dogs aren't allergic to it. Where you get problems with corn are when 'corn gluten meal' is used to artificially inflate the protein percentages in dog food, or with manufacturers who don't properly inspect their corn before putting it into production (eg. Diamond).

Eagle Pack Puppy is a great food.

Wow, schlep, that is a  very good way to discribe gluten.  I work for a pet product distributor and it's always difficult to discribe what gluten is to a client that knows very little about dog food.
Anyways, Eagle Pack Small Breed Puppy food (in the yellow bag) is good and easy to digest, so it's great for young puppies.  In fact, I have found that young puppies (younger than 3 months) have a tough time digesting Eagle Pack Holistic all life stages formula.  Maybe it just has too much for the tiny guys.  If they were my pups, I'd continue feeding them Eagle Pack small breed puppy until they're 3 months and then slowly switch to Eagle Pack's holistic all life stages formula, the one in the gold bag.

I can't resist spilling the beans. Schlep is a distributor of premium foods and he knows his stuff.

All of the pups I have started on EP Puppy have done GREAT!! I raise field trial beagles and their energy is great, shiney coats, and very healthy.
I like the fact that it has the digestive enzymes and probiotics. These can be very beneficial for weaning pups and pups in general when they go thru the stress of being separated from their litter/mother when going to new homes.

I would not switch if they are doing good on it.

As much as I never tried EP puppy,, we feed EP to our danes, and it is great food.  CORN or NO CORN. Unless corn in the list of first ingredients, there is nothing wrong with it, in fact there is good in corn when used in the proper way. Many companies buy corn from corn suppliers, getting it from different suppliers all the time,,whereas Eagle gets theirs from grower right by them where they themselves inspect it.   Unless of course your dog us allergic to corn (which very few are---even though it has a bad reputation) there is nothing wrong with it.

Does anyone know the meat% of eaglepack. Why do dogs tend to have such shiny coats on EP? Could it be the corn? Because in all honestly at first glance this food just doesnt look very good.Well, not when comparing it to the other premiums such as TWO,innova, evo etc which all have multiple meat sources as their first ingredients...
