• knuckle bone vs. chicken leg smilee1079 Posted : 6/5/2006 10:37:56 PM I currently give Zoe a marrow bone every other week or so to help clean teeth but I think if I understand correctly, the tearing of the meat is what does the cleaning so knuckle bones and chicken legs are better.  My question is, which is better to give her...a  knuckle bone or a chicken leg.  Also, would it replace a meal?   She is 10 lbs. and gets 1/4 cup Innova 2x a day. Jessie did a few weeks ago and the next day she passed bone chips in her stool and was very uncomfortable for a few minutes afterwards. I got one, once, before I got Teenie, and Emma ate it in like 30 minutes. She was sick for two days... Ugh. It was freakin HUGE! I didn't realize she'd chomp it down so fast..... I'm pretty sure Zoe would be able to chew at a knuckle bone. Emma's only 17 pounds, and she's a little chubby right now (which is good, since she's so hard to put weight on). • thedoc617 Posted : 6/10/2006 9:39:08 PM Yep, the thing in the picture isn't a raw bone- it looks like something you'd get at the petstore (which is cooked and that's a no-no.) Here's a pic I found when I googled "raw knuckle" although the ones that I get usually don't look like it. (shrug)     Daisy is still learning how to chew them. How do you know they are no no's. Can you see inside my dogs stomach? are you they vets?
