    knuckle bone vs. chicken leg

I currently give Zoe a marrow bone every other week or so to help clean teeth but I think if I understand correctly, the tearing of the meat is what does the cleaning so knuckle bones and chicken legs are better.  My question is, which is better to give her...a  knuckle bone or a chicken leg.  Also, would it replace a meal?

She is 10 lbs. and gets 1/4 cup Innova 2x a day.

A chicken leg would definitely replace a meal for Zoe. It's almost a whole day's food for Teenie, who would like for you to know that she weighs 13.7 pounds today.

BTW, I'm still trying to get fragaria. It's more difficult to find than I thought;)

Have you tried giving Teenie knuckle bones?  Which do you think are better?

Is Teenie a mini or normal?  Her most recent pics have her looking fabulous!

smilee; Has Zoe ever scraped small pieces of bone from the inside of the marrow bone while trying to eat the marrow? Jessie did a few weeks ago and the next day she passed bone chips in her stool and was very uncomfortable for a few minutes afterwards. Jessie's had knucle bones but for a dog Zoe's size a chicken leg would probably be better; her mouth isn't big enough to chew around a knuckle bone is it?

Jennie, What's frageria? Is it a plant?

My two mini dachshunds love both chicken legs and knuckle bones. But for the teeth cleaning part I go with the knuckle bones.

If I'm not mistaken jessies_mom frageria is a type of strawberry plant.

Zoe has a big mouth... but I guess I'd need to see knuckle bones to know if she can get her mouth on them.  But luv4gsd's can do it, I am sure she can :).  She will be motivated I am sure :)

Fragaria vesca is from a strawberry plant and helps dogs with teeth cleaning as well.

More technically, fragaria vesca is a homeopathic remedy, from a strawberry plant, that prevents tartar buildup;)

Teenie is 13.7 pounds, now, so I guess she's a tweenie[:D] I haven't tried a knuckle bone, because they're hard to find around here. I got one, once, before I got Teenie, and Emma ate it in like 30 minutes. She was sick for two days... Ugh. It was freakin HUGE! I didn't realize she'd chomp it down so fast.....

I'm pretty sure Zoe would be able to chew at a knuckle bone. Emma's only 17 pounds, and she's a little chubby right now (which is good, since she's so hard to put weight on). Her mouth fits around a tennis ball, but not much bigger (not that we HAVE any tennis balls... she popped them all years ago, LOL).

Can someone post a picture of a knuckle bone so I know what to look for?  Thanks.

    This is a knuckle bone

Is that supposed to be consumable or just recreational?

I just let mine eat the meat off and I throw away the bone.

Mine eat them, but I only feed them raw. They're white, not brown.

Yep, the thing in the picture isn't a raw bone- it looks like something you'd get at the petstore (which is cooked and that's a no-no.)
Here's a pic I found when I googled "raw knuckle" although the ones that I get usually don't look like it. (shrug)

Daisy is still learning how to chew them. She keeps just licking it and hasn't figured out that it can be chewed and meat can be torn off rather than simply licked.

Hello she ask what a knuckle bone looks like. Does anywhere on that post say raw, baked, no it doesn't. I feed those and raw to my dogs and they are all fine. How do you know they are no no's. Can you see inside my dogs stomach? are you they vets? Why am I even explaining myself to you guys.
