    Lower Fat Content Foods

    Hi Everyone:
Does anyone know of any foods that are natural and have a lower fat content?  If Dusty does have the pancreas problem along with the small intestinal bacterial overgrowth problem, colitis and IBD, then, I have to feed him something lower in fat and up the fiber, but I can always up the fiber, need a lower fat food. He's only 3 and weighs 35 pounds.
Pre mixes are an option as well as a plan for homecooking, but I am working on finding a nutitionist too. I know Solid Gold has 2 foods, WolfKing and Holistique Blendz, but do not like that it's made at the same plant as Diamond.
    Thanks

I was going to suggest Holistic Blendz.

    Maybe something like Canidae Platinum?

    Thanks,
Canidae Platinum he didn't like (one of the few things he doesn't like) he liked their chicken and rice new formula but that has a high fat content 15% I think.

What about Eagle Pack Holistic Fish;   [linkhttp://www.eaglepack.com/pages/ep_fish_oatmeal.html]http://www.eaglepack.com/pages/ep_fish_oatmeal.html[/link]
It's 12% fat and has digestive enzymes too; the grains are herbicide free and the salmon is wild caught and naturally preserved; they have a permit so they don't have to preserve their fish with ethoxyquin.
Their Duck formula is 13% fat;   [linkhttp://www.eaglepack.com/pages/ep_hs_duck.html]http://www.eaglepack.com/pages/ep_hs_duck.html[/link]
and has the same digestive enzymes.

You would probably have an easier time narrowing it down if you knew what foods cause flare up's.  Have you ever kept a journal of his issues and what food he was getting when they happened??

Also, I know I've said this to you before but I think you switch around WAY too  much.  Dogs with these problems do best on a simple diet that is consistent.  You haven't given his system a chance to adjust to anything.

I haven't done any switching at all. I've just been giving beef/chicken and rice to him. I've only been researching, that's why all the questions.  I tried to give the i/d in addition to the bland diet here, but he threw it up and it was just about 2 TBSP. so, no I haven't been switching at all, only investigating foods.  Since Dr. Harvey's about 4 weeks ago, this is all I've been feeding him, that was the last food he had.
I have been keeping a journal, yes, that's why I am asking.

Sorry, I must be getting the threads confused, I thought it was you who just tried Timberwolf and a pre mix.

Well, there's Natural Balance.  The Duck and Potato and Fish and Sweet Potato formulas are both 10% fat. The Venison and rice is 12% fat.

California Natural is 11% fat in all 3 flavors (chicken & rice, lamb & rice, fish & sweet potato).  They also have reduced calorie formulas in the chicken and lamb flavors, which are only 8% fat.

Go! Natural has a new Salmon & Oats formula, which is 12% fat, and has simple ingredients like the NB and CN.  Then there's Verus Fish & Potato, 11%.

If you want to home cook, something based on white fish or skinless chicken breast would be very low in fat, as long as you don't add any oils.

Blue Buffalo has light formulas in both chicken and lamb.

That's ok, I've been very confusing lately and asking a lot of questions so it probably sounded like I was trying the foods, I had them here, but haven't used anything since Dr. H's because I don't want to keep changing, I want to pick one and pray it works.
Guess, what? Today all he did was poop rice, do you believe that, now what's his problem? I know that it's ok a bit but this was all the rice I gave him today and I cooked it almost 2 hours, can't get any mushier than it is.
Good thing is it's after 8:00 and he isn't whining for food!
Oh well, that's why Dr. will be reminded to call first thing tomorrow!
