    Flint River Ranch

Who feeds it?  What results do you have? Had any troubles with it?  How are stools on it?

    Thanks!

I had considered this food at one time but  wouldn't recommend it over alot of the other foods mentioned on here. I decided not to  feed it to my dogs. They're on Timberwolf Organics which is in my opinion the best quality kibble I've found and my dogs do excellent on it . In fact I've never come across anyone who hasn't raved about it.

You'll notice that hardly anyone here ever even mentions FRR. It's not that popular here . I don't like the fact that they use wheat flour , they use grain fragments ( ie rice bran, wheat germ meal ) , generic poultry fat, they don't use chelated minerals and are shy on the probiotics. They use farm-raised fish in their Trout & Potato formula,  ground corn in their cat food which they claim is more expensive to make because meat costs more than grain yet CORN is the 2nd ingredient,  corn gluten meal which causes intestinal blockage over time and promotes colon cancer and malabsorption of essential vitamins and minerals,  Frankly for the price you can do  MUCH better and pay MUCH less for those kinds of ingredients.

Well I just can't pick a right one.
I don't have cats so I'm not particularly worried about the corn gluten int he cat food.
Honestly, any food I end up picking, someone will have a problem with.
I have a notebook filled with all the different foods I've tried and reports of the results.
Lots of people here love Innova.  I can't feed it to my guys. We have major diarrhea, and I'm not over feeding.
Meh. I think I'll try FRR for a while.  I like the baked foods.

If BilJac works for your dogs, why sweat it?  You can always ADD meat, give marrow bones, rmb's etc to up the nutrition anti.

They already get an occasional RMB or wing, doggy meatloaf, fresh fruits and veggies throughout the week.  Kibble is for busy days, mostly.
I'm not terribly worried, but I like to try different things.

I tried FRR Senior Plus, Lamb & Millet, Dry Water - I didn't see any improvement in Sunnie's itchy skin she's 12 or help with Chase he's 6 and has seizures.   I then read dogtor J articles and tried Canidae which is a good food, but still didn't notice a difference, may come back to this after they heal.   After his suggestion I'm now on IVD Royal Canine -Vension & Potatoes - not the same as Royal Canine as the IVD has to be purchased at the vet's office or w/prescription at certain PetSmarts.   I'm finally seeing a difference, but it's not cheap $ 39.00 for a 20lb bag, the dogs love it, I mix in a table spoon of canned with the kibble.

I've also tried Pinnacle, Cal. Natural., Innova Senior -dogs did well on this.  Hope this helps.

I've read your posts and you're particularly biased against TO so no matter how good the food actually  is you wouldn't say so.  I've seen 100% improvement in all of my animals over all other brands we've tried. They all have lots of energy and vitality... even my 9 yr old cat....gorgeous soft, silky coats, no more itching or dry skin, paw licking, etc.  I've noticed a definitely improvement in lean muscle mass, nice small , firm stools and they absolutely love the food .  Can't ask for much more than that. It does everything it's supposed to do and I don't have to worry about any questionable or inferior  quality ingredients.  I'm a happy camper and so are alot of other TO feeders. I belong to a number of other boards/forums and those feeders are getting the same results I am . This is the only board where I've ever seen any 'complaints' about it and they're primarily from you. I've tried almost every food out there and can't think of one food that is better or even comparable in quality except maybe Nature's Logic but I'm not going to spend 20% more on a like quality food.

Actually, I would. But the fact is - I saw nothing special about the food. Their coats and muscle mass look better on Canidae, which they were on before the TO and I saw a definitive decrease in both of these when I switched. When I switched back they look better again - just anecdotal evidence on my part. Yes, I have a lot of problems with TO - some of which wouldn't be such a big deal if the product was worth the hassle.

For me, I saw no difference on the TO, except that after a month of feeding the TO, his stools got progressively looser and he was pooping about 3 times a day.  He also began to eat less and less, not eating enough to keep a fly alive.  When I switched to the RC, his stools became more firm, and now he actually eats the food (not to mention he poops once or twice a day and doesn't do his whole "walking and straining" thing that he did on the TO..I thought it was just what he did).  And the kcals aren't much different (the TO being about 540 ish? and the RC being 517kcal/cup).

I'm sure it works great for some people, it just didn't work well for my pup.  We have to keep in mind that there is no one food that works for all dogs, and while TO may have "superb" ingredients, alot of dogs may not be able to handle it, or not do well on it....same goes for other foods.

I think if you two would like to continue this conversation, it would be better done OFF the forum.  And I THINK that the attacking party is absolutely aware of who he/she is.

I personally don't get excited about TWO either.  I don't see anything that makes it so superior that I would want to use a food that has issues with quality control and extremely poor customer service.  and if anyone has anything that they want to say to ME about that comment, send a pm, cuz I won't respond ON forum.

ANYway- so, are there any FRR feeders out there and what were your results?

I do see in my handy notebook that I had fed 2 20lb bags a few years ago but wrote down no comments, which means it must've been good or I'd have commented about it.

    Anyone?

I haven't personally tried it but I thought I had read a few good reviews here and there. You could also check out secondchanceranch.com. I know some here don't like them because of their anti-raw stance, but they use FRR with good results. Or, you could email through their "contact us" for references to customer feedback or others they have known that use it.

Ricky ate FRR for almost 4 years and did fine with it -his stools
were small and firm but he started licking his paws and we thought
he may have a food sensitively/allergy. FRR has a lot of grains!
After changing his diet many times he's now doinig great on Evo.[:)]

If you go with FRR remember to make the switch very slowly and
feed the recommended amount so your baby won't get loose stools.
