what food produced the best coat for your dog?

I was wondering with what food did your dog have the best coat?
I would say innova evo produced the best coat in Kaiser...Wyatt is too young for evo.

My 3 are on about 1/3 Innova large breed and 2/3 home made food (from Dr. Pitcairn's book) and their coats are glossy, silky and just totally gorgeous!  They were doing fine just on the Innova but I'd say even better on this.

Homecooked meals. Lamb, salmon, veggies, fruits, etc.

Straight up raw, no grains, minimal starches (some carrots, squash, beans, fruit etc in veggie mush). Hands down when I was feeding whole ducks, rabbits, and sheep (prey model) with just a smidge of BARF-model food in between, was when I saw the best overall health in my dogs. I just couldn't get the calories into them when they started having to really work.

I liked EVO. I tried TWO Lamb and Apple (I forget what the real name is). Meh. I just compare everything to how they were doing on prey model and I always end up dissatisfied. [:D]

Ben's doing pretty well on the NB allergy kibbles beefed up with raw meaty bones and stew. The rest get a food that is calorie intense - high fat and carbs - with meat added to it. Most of them do very well on this - my youngest gets constant comments on how puppy soft his coat is, but it's highly weather and dirt resistant and our version of grooming is a swim in the pond where it doesn't end with plowing through the mud on the low bank.[;)]

Timberwolf Ocean Blue and their Wild & Natural formula.

Season also has a LOT to do with Ella's coat.

And this is the season for her skin to flare up which will mean duller coat and random bald spots.
She might do better this year because she's on salmon oil and has been for this year. AND she's consistently getting good food.

TWO by a large margin over even innova and evo.  I've decided Zami doesn't do well on poultry.  The CN lamb and rice and avoderm lamb weren't too bad but not great.  All of TWO's formulas have given her a wonderful coat but she can't keep down the southwest chicken or the wild and natural very well(both poultry based).  I haven't noticed any difference when increasing the raw she is fed over the timberwolf.

i wish i could get TWO here. I could order it offline, but i like frequent buyer programs. Wonder if i could request that my petstore start carrying it...

    Timberwolf Ocean Blue
    ORIGINAL: chewbecca

Ditto Ocean Blue.  People comment on her coat and think she's had a bath recently even though its been over a month.  If you look at the ingredient list and see the fat source is fish oil, it's easy to understand why.  My dog also sheds less on OB than anything else.

Even when I went from OB to Wild & Natural my dog's coat changed for the worse.  The difference in shedding was noticed within 2-3 days.  I've switched from and to OB several times and the result is the same.  OB is the lowest protein kibble in our rotation.  I'd like to compare OB with Orijen 6 Fish but it does not seem to be available yet.

Bevo's coat has done best on EVO.  I have been feeding Honest Kitchen Embark as one of his meals over the past 3 weeks, & his coat has even more pop to it.

I also will cast my vote for TWO ocean blue.

A mixture of Innova Evo and Solid Gold Wolf King mixed with fresh or canned tripe and a little canned Evangers for some added flavor. Plus the supplement called K9 Showstopper helps the coat and muscle condition.

    Frequent grooming helps too. [;)]

Raw...their coats looked great, they were glossy, they hardly shed, and that "dog smell" was no more. We are now back on kibble (hopefully not for too long though) and their coats are ok, but not as good as they were and can be.

I've done bad kibble, good kibble, canned, homecooked, and raw. Raw puts them in the best condition, no contest. It's almost not even fair to compare their condition (especially Emma's, with her absorbtion issues) on cooked food to raw.

You could order it on T.O.'s site and get free shipping.
The store I buy Ella's Ocean Blue from doesn't sell it much cheaper than I could get it online. But the store is not even 5 minutes from me, so I buy it there for convenience.

I thought Ella's coat did best when I fed her stricly raw, but after about 3-4 months on it, her hair started to thin out, she lost weight, and she started getting skin infections again.

BUT, I still add raw to her night meal. I don't completely do away with raw, as I STILL believe fresh "human" food is best for them. There's just something missing in the WHOLE raw diet that Ella apparently needs that Ocean Blue must provide for her.
And I cannot for the life of me figure out what that is.
