What brand dog food you feed your dogs?

I think Orijen is a little better than CORE, not by much, but enough that I would prefer it. I've always written Orijen off as I food I couldn't feed because of the availability, but now I'm deciding that I really want to FIND a way to get it. Anyway, I like that Orijen has a little more fat at 16% and I like that it comes from chicken fat, not from vegetable sources like canola oil. I think it's more natural for a dog to get fat from animal sources. Plus, I love all the herbs and other botanical ingredients. I wouldn't want to buy all of those things seperately and try balance them all myself. I don't think a dog would find them very palatable that way either. I also like that they make a grain free food that I can feed to my puppy.

Edited to add, I personally wouldn't mix kibbles. It isn't giving them any variety in their diet that way. When you mix them, they're getting the same thing all the time. What I would do is rotate them, feeding a different one every bag.

I got Ella some .88 lbs. bags from [linkhttp://www.naturalpetmarket.com/results2.cfm]here.[/link]
    They're only $1.99
I got them that small because I decided that I wanted to try it before committing to an entire big bag of the food. Plus, I simply want to just put it in her rotation, not feed it ALL the time.

I got 5 bags because it came out cheaper than buying one of the small bags.
But I think your dogs eat considerably less than Ella does, so you could probably get a couple bags of the .88 lbs. bags and it'll probably last you a while.
I will warn you, though, the regular adult formula is a bigger kibble size. They also have the puppy formula available in that size bag. I think those sizes are perfect for "trying" out a kibble or if you just want a little kibble to this or to that.[:)]

oh, and I have no idea if the puppy size kibble is smaller.
If you want, I can take a piece of T.O.'s Ocean Blue and a piece of Orijen and take a pic so you can get an idea for the difference in kibble size.

Just let me know if you're interested.[:D]

Yes please! That would be really great! [:)] Do you know offhand how much the shipping was for the $1.99 trial bag? I saw that on k9 cuisine there's free shipping with orders $50 or over, so I would DEFINITELY need to make sure it would work for them first! [:D]

I'm not sure how much it would be for just the bags because I also order canned food from this place, too, and that weighs the package down more so it cost me more for shipping.

Give me until tonight to get a pic of that kibble for you because I have an open house for my son to go to and dinner to make and all that mother stuff to do.[:D]

Okay, have fun and thanks again for offering!

    OK, here it is:

The kibble on the left being the Ocean Blue and the kibble on the right being Orijen.

er...I think I must be size sensitive because that kibble, I SWEAR looked gigantic when I first opened the bag!!!!

I guess there's not much of a difference in size. At least not as much as I thought there was.

Let me see if I can place a fake order on that site to see what it would cost to have just the bags shipped.

uh...You might want to check out some of their other foods (like their canned Addiction foods, I really recommend) because they use UP-crap-S and shipping is...well, I did 4 sample bags and they charged me $9.02 for shipping. I took out 2 of the sample bags, and it STILL charged me $9.02.

I guess it's NOT as good a deal as I had thought, I'm sorry.
I thought for sure that shipping was only high because of the cans I bought. With Six cans of food and 5 bags of Orijen, shipping cost me $10-something. It was worth it to me.

I guess when we have to order foods online, this is what we have to put up with. The Orijen IS a good deal from there, if you can place an order big enough to justify that much in shipping.

Thank you Rebecca for taking the picture and checking into all that stuff!! It looks like the kibble is still smaller than Wellness CORE, which is this big old pyramid shaped thing. lol I don't understand why they charge so much for shipping a little sample bag of food. [&:] It should be a very small box and I'm thinking only a few dollars to ship. Darnit it all to heck, I really want to feed Orijen. Must.... find.... a... way.... lol

i was wondering about rotation some people talk about.  i wonder how that works since when you switch foods you have to do it so gradually.

I think this was discussed before, but anyway, for my ALLERGIC TO EVERYTHNG dal,I'm trying California Natural lamb and rice. Our lab and doxie now went back to Eagle Pack from Fromm, which seemed to make their fur very rough. I noticed someone mentioned getting dogfood from Amazon.com.I don't know if you saw it on another thread here, but Amazon.com sells DOGFIGHTING VIDEOS  to make more money.,I, personally, would not buy anything from them because of this. Seeing the video made me sick and it makes me angry that they find nothing wrong with this!

I stick to different formulas in the same brand so that is not as bad. I do believe if you keep changing food though..and your dog doesn't get used to the same food...he won't have upset by changing it. Its the dogs that have been eating the same food day after day...and then a big switch...that causes problems.

sydney and amelia get blackwood 3000.

emma is in transition from bil-jac large breed puppy to blackwood 2000. when she is older, we will probably switch her to the 3000 as well.

they all get occassional toppers for their kibble too. a variety of canned foods, green beans, cucumbers, yogurt, etc.

Bevo & the new foster are eating EVO red meat.

Chyna & Brinxx eat Canidae Platinum.

Shooter & Schatzi are eating Solid Gold Barking at the Moon.

They usually get Wellness 95% canned on their food as well.

Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish for us.  We have used Canidae Lamb & Rice, which is good, but my female has problems with rice.

Blue Buffalo Sr. formula kibble.  No cans anymore.

We fed and recommended Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice forever! We, just this year, switched to Canidae ALS and I am VERY happy with the results in my dogs and this last litter we had. Very nice. So, we will stay with Canidae ALS.
