Odd kibble in Eagle Pack?

    Odd kibble in Eagle Pack?

So have any of you Eagle Pack feeders seen square, flat pieces with a hole in the middle? This is the first bag I've ever got and I saw two in it. Of course, I've already thrown the bag away so I don't know if I should even contact them. I won't be buying it again though, not because of this, but because only one of my dogs will eat it. Angry Anyway, just curious.

ETA: It was the Holistic Anchovy, Sardine & Salmon.

    Sooner,

I feed the EP Holistic Fish and haven't noticed any thing, but Eagle does make a power formula with the square kibble with a hole in the center. I would however contact them and let them know what you have found. I am sure they would want to know!

Let us know what you find out.

    Okay, e-mail sent.

what is this world coming to?!?! [sm=banghead002.gif]
lol....i've never seen this many quality control or "mixed kibble" issues this past year or so than I have ever seen....especially w/ it being a bunch of different companies!

I rotate and one of them is the EP Holistic Select Chicken Meal and Rice and I haven't noticed anything funky in the bag.  I'll watch for it, though.  Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm glad you wrote to them to tell them. I believe they will answer right away. Please do let us know what they say.
I don't feed that formula..nor do I feed the power formula.
Did it have a lot of them in there?
Eagle makes their own food at their own place...so I'm not worried that its someone elses food as we were with the other conversation..however, this is STILL NOT RIGHT!   They had better have one good excuse for it!

    Good Morning Kelly,

Thanks for writing and we appreciate your concern. The other piece is from our Power Formula. When we transition from running one formula to the next, pieces of food can get stuck in the hopper that drops food into the bags. Even if you did have an allergy prone dog, the relatively few pieces of another formula would not cause a problem.
We do appreciate that you are feeding Eagle Pack.

The response itself doesn't impress me, but I am impressed that they responded so quickly.  I e-mailed Natural Balance Friday and Natura yesterday morning with questions and haven't heard back from either yet.

ETA: I agree Dyan, it doesn't concern me AS MUCH since I pretty much knew it had to be another Eagle formula. That's better than not knowing who's it could have been.

Did you let EP know you threw the bag out? Maybe they could send you a coupon for a new bag. I think it's worth a shot.

I just threw the bag away when I transferred the food to a different container. I didn't toss the food because of this... had it been another company w/o their own manufacturing facility I probably would have.

I'm curious... some of you with allergy-prone dogs... do you think a few pieces make a difference?
    • Gold Top Dog
How many pieces were in the bag?  I know you didnt count them all... but is it a lot or just like under a few pieces for the whole bag?
    • Gold Top Dog
It's not a lot. Actually it's only been two so far and I'm probably 1/3 way through the bag. I saw the first one and got a lot more alert and the next day saw the second one and wrote them. I'll keep watching, but I don't think there's a bunch.

You know Kelly, as someone with an allergy prone dog, it really does concern me.  Not that I think it's life-threatening, but just the whole idea that they can't do a better job of keeping the food separated and sort of the attitude "a few won't hurt".  If I had a child with peanut allergies, I doubt you'd find any human food manufacturer giving that kind of answer and getting away with it.

I emailed Natural Balance last week regarding changing the formula and here's the response I got (it took about a week):

    Cathy,
Please know that we have never changed the order/formula, the dry was and has ALWAYS been Potato & Duck, only the canned is Duck and Potato.  If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone. [align=left]Sincerely,[align=left] [align=left] [align=left]Jennifer Freeman, [font="comic sans ms"][size=3]B. I wish I hadn't thrown away the bag from February that I remember said Duck and Potato (the last good quality bag I got) .  I remember the reason that I picked it out in the first place (last October) was that it had duck and duck meal as the first two ingredients.
I don't want to accuse anybody of lying (not you, Cathy- you're just the messanger. Thank you for ;posting this!! I'm talking about the company) but I'm sure of what I read/saw, because if it was potatoes as the first ingredient, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.
Something is really fishy about the company.
Daisy is doing GREAT on cooked chicken/sweet potatoes, but we're probably going to go with Turkey and Barley for an eliminiation diet.

Oh- and OT but here is MY picture of the BAD dog food from NB.
On the LEFT is the bad food, on the right is the good food.
