Merrick Canned Food

Just wanted to get your thoughts on this new food that the natural dog store around here has. Dont know if its a new food but they just got it. It looks great!!! I bit pricy but I mix it with the Innova. Anyway, this is the Wilderness Blend flavor. They have lots of variety. The brand is Merrick.

Ingredients:
Buffalo, Salmon Broth, Venison, Salmon, Fish Broth, Whole Brown Rice, Fresh Carrots, Fresh Yukon Gold Potatoes, Fresh Green Peas, Fresh Golden Delicious Apples, Potato Starch-modified, Egg, Oilve Oil, Flax Seed Oil, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Yucca Schidigera Extrect, Choline Chloride, Natural Caramel Color, Lecithin, Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Tocopherol, Iron Amino Acid Complex, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Acetate, Copper Amino Acid Complex, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Niacin, Riboflaven Supplement, Biotin, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Foli Acid, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite.

They seem like the absolute top quality since its says golden delicious apples and yukon gold potatoes...
I dont know much about the list of ingredients, other than it sounds really good...

I would really appreciate your opinions... anyone used this food before? They sure do like it!

I got a free sample of the Merrick "Turducken" wet food and my pup really seemed to like it. I haven't actually gone out and bought it (I normally use the EVO canned), but I would in the future.

Merrick has a spotty Quality Control record, contamination in food and treats. Lori, Willow Chows mom, found shipping staples and big blue chunks of plastic in Merricks. Based on that, and their history, I wouldn't take the chance. Too many really high quality products out there with GOOD QC records.

Yeah, I do remember hearing from a few ppl about quality control issues.

Wow! Thats not good! I guess its not something you think about too much unless you have had or know someone whos had a problem like that. Good to know...

I like Merrick alot as far as treats and such, but they do have a reputation associated with poor quality control and I was giving my dogs the cans w/ their Innova, but they make their poop very, very smelly! So, I had to stop. They get them occasionally now, but I have to be careful.

BUT Merrick also had contamination in treats as well.

Merrick had a recall last week on some lots of their Wingaling cans. Apparently, there were metal bands under some of the wings that had been left on by the
processor. Merrick said that they no longer use that processor for their foods.

It seems strange that a company putting such good ingredients in their food would not also be making sure nothing bad got into the food. Ill be checking the cans I have for things until they are gone. Its too bad they are like that... no one wants to pay a great deal for something "top quaity" and still be worried about things like that.

Merrick is avaliable at my local holistic pet shop but I'm just disappointed how it's not well made as told. It looks really good and my dog loves it but I had to stop buying them when I thought I had finally found something my dog loves.
