also sallya, eagle pack holistics also has a fish and oatmeal but i think you dont want grain?

They forgot to add.... until the next recall to the end of that paragraph.  At that time, they will probably have the co-manufacturers swear on a bible.

I bet you those formulas have rice protein in them BUT THEY ARE JUST WRITTEN IN WHITE INK...lol

This whole issue is just making me sick to my stomach,,,but thanks for the smile Niko.... It almost makes it a little easier to put up with to be able to find something here to laugh at...even though as you say "its no laughing matter!"

Thanks for the information. Oatmeal is pretty good, but grain free is best for her. I am just afraid to trust anyone at all. I think I will keep cooking and not have to worry, until the recalls are over for good. Then I would like to add kibble again to the food I make to know she is getting all she needs.  I will try to homecook correctly, I am learning more and more. Trudy sure LOVES her mealtimes!!!!! Salmon, cooked veggies, fruit, etc....YUM.

For me and my dog, Natural Balance is as good as it gets. Perfect health, good appetite, shiney coat and perfect stools......I wouldn't trade it for any other food on the market.
    **************************************************************
You said you would not trade NB for any other food on the market.  I guess we are entitled to learn that no food is perfect, no maufacturer is 100% turthful, (many proably don't come close to 50%) and change our mind about what we want to feed our beloved dogs.  What is the old saying, Never say Never because you don't know what the furture brings.  I may even change brands if mine starts having big recalls.
    • Gold Top Dog
[sm=eek.gif] wow this is so incredibally out of control its ridiculous.

The dogs have been eating Chicken Soup and NB since all the other recalls.

I do not trust any food right now. Especially now that the ingredient that is tained is not even on the igredient list!

I don't even know what to say at this point
    • Gold Top Dog
If what they say is true, there is no way NB could have known what they were doing....what makes me suspicious is the fact that they are the only company this has happened to (you would think more would be involved)

Blue Buffalo is saying the same thing happened to them according to another thread with a link here in this section.

I agree this is all getting out of hand.  I fed NB until about a week and a half ago when their first recall came out.  I don't want to leave anything to chance.  I switched to Nature's Variety which is grain free. (Plus I also feed raw which I have done for about a year).  You do't know who to trust anymore, its crazy! [:@]

I just bought NB canned salmon for my cat. I'm not sure about giving it to her now... How can they be sure it is only the ocean fish canned for cats + dog food if they are relying on the word of the manufacturer that tampered with it in the first place?? Now I don't trust NB or Blue Buffalo- two brands I thought I could count on. I wonder how many other brands American Nutrition manufactures?
    • Gold Top Dog
I still have 5 cans of the NB Duck/Potato and NB Fish/Sweet Potato.  Along with 3 cans of Blue Buff.   I was going to add other NB varieties to the rotation but that "natural smoke flavor" ingredient turned me off (thank G-d).
I'm getting sick to my stomach over these new recalls.
I'm glad I went to homecooking a week ago - even my horribly unbalanced meals have to be better than poison.
I'm done with commercial foods.  DONE.
Someone had BETTER go to jail for a very long time for this !

wow this is so incredibally out of control its ridiculous.

    EXACTLY!
I keep thinking that someone is going to do something about this,,,and they don't!
It just keeps getting worse and worse.
    • Gold Top Dog
I find it odd that NB "didnt know" about the ingredients in their canned (made by american nutrution?) yet knew enough about the same type of ingredients in their dry (made by diamond?) to quickly change their ingredient lists online when it came out.

They may truly have been scammed by American Nutrition on their canned foods, but it would be amusing for NB to be angry about it, when they allegedly were knowingly doing it themselves with their other products.

I just called Natural Balance.  Ready for this one.  They told me they knew rice protein concentrate was an ingredient that was in the cans.  They didn't know it was contaminated.  They said it is listed as an ingredient on the cans.  I don't have any of these cans in front of me.  Are they lying?  Is it listed on the cans?
    • Gold Top Dog
I suspect they're fibbing.  I just checked the website (see below) and its certainly not listed as an ingredient there.  And I was about to add these to my rotation before giving up and going homecooked and the only thing that stopped me was the "natural smoke flavor" - any grain fraction would have definitely caught my attention.

I can say it's wasn't listed.  I've looked at enough of those cans over the years to know it wasn't there.
I'm just so confused.  I'm not sure what to do.  I know if I try to homecook I'm going to end up with issues.  [&:]

Lori, I do so feel for you and Willow.  How horrible it must be to have a dog with her problems, think you have them solved and then find out that you have been more or less lied to about the food you found that was working.  I hope you can get it all worked out for her without her having a flare up of her trouble.
