    wellness 95% meats

I want to feed the wellness 95% canned meats, but they are not balance and are supposed to be used as a supplement.  (I don't want to feed the Evo 95% meat cans).  I was thinking of giving this to Jake with his dry food.  If his dry food is salmon & oatmeal, can I add the wellness 95% venison to that?

There are 437 calories in a 13.2 oz. can.  There are 466 calories per 8 oz. cup of Jake's dry food.  How do I figure out how much of each food he should get?  He is almost 33 lbs.  He gets fed twice a day.

Also, anyone who feeds this, what do you feed it with and how does your dog do on it?

I add different canned meats to Jessie's food all the time; today it was venison added to duck kibble. I also do some homecooking for Jessie and add it to her food and according to Monica Segal, as long as it's not more than a third of the dog's total caloric intake you don't need to add supplements, so maybe you can use that as a guide for the canned meat. I divide the number of ounces into the total number of calories to figure how many calories per ounce there is in a can of  food and have a scale to measure how many ounces I want to add. You probably know how many calories a day you feed Jake, so after you decide how much canned food you want to give him simply subtract that amount from his total number of daily calories and you'll know how much kibble to feed.

My dog gets lamb and rice kibble supplemented with 100% rabbit Evanger's canned.  The flavor of the canned does not matter as long as your dog does not have allergies to it and will eat it.  I plan on trying buffalo or pheasant canned next and will probably switch of flavors everytime I order more cans (can't buy Evanger's in my state).  I would like to alternate betwee 2-3 flavors that he likes.  I don't know how to do the whole measuring thing.  I just removed some of the kibble from his diet to add the canned in and will see how he does as to whether I need to increase or further decrease the kibble.

The calories are close enough where you could give 50/50 of each per meal.  I don't think that would be a problem, but keep an eye out for loose stools anyway because of adding something different may start something.  I would start off lite just mixing in some teaspoon fulls, then bring it to 50/50 in a week.  Try to find a plastic lid to store your unused canned in the fridge.
