Royal Canin USA Recalls Several Dry Foods

I just got off the phone with Royal Canin. They said, by law, they have six months to change the bags to reflect any formula changes. They could not tell me when the ingredient was added and 'could not confirm' when the website was changed.

That is a bunch of BS!
Even if that's true (which I'm SURE they've consulted attorneys by now), it's NOT morally right.

I'm considering trying raw again and simply cooking up some rice or potatoes and feeding those along with the meat.
    This is crazy.

I think it's true.  I believe AAFCO regulations allow them up to six months after changing ingredients to update the product labels.  I also agree it's not morally right.  Especially for products that are specifically marketed towards pets with allergies or IBD or other medical ;problems for whom ingredients are critical.

THAT IS SO WRONG.  SIX MONTHS TO CHANGE LABELS AND THAT COULD VERY WELL ENDANGER PETS WITH ALLERGIES AND OTHER PROBLEMS.  I WONDER IF THE SAME APPLIES TO HUMAN FOODS--THEY HAVE 6 MONTHS TO CHANGE LABELS.

They don't decide one day to change a forumla and change it the next day with no warning.  Once a change is to be made,  bag should be made to reflect that change, and that forumal SHOULD BE IN THOSE BAGS.  I don't care whoe the company is, if it makes dog or human food or both, this is NOT RIGHT.

Yet another bullet just so barely dodged. Royal Canin Feline Urinary SO is my cats' prescription food and the only urinary forumla they ever did well on.

I'm trying not to freak out but I am so very, very pissed about all of this. Is there a comprehensive list anywhere of ALL the foods that have been recalled (voluntary or otherwise)?

The vet talked me out of bringing them all in for tests because the dogs aren't showing symptoms and any illness the vet has been seeing from the food is sudden, and acute.

I believe the six months thing is a law as well. I had a vet tell me that a couple of years ago when we were dealing with Tookey's corn allergies. I also saw today that the melamine has shown up in hog feed. The hogs were a specialty item, sold to consumers who would buy the whole pig. This is just the tip of the iceberg I imagine.

Had this happened 40, even 30 years ago, we probably would have never known.  But with the invention of home computers, web sites, dog forums, word spreads and spreads and the public puts up an outcry and that pulls in the media.  I read stuff here and then tell it on about a dozen other forums.  Ones there pass it on to other forums they belong to.  THANK GOD FOR COMPUTERS, WEB SITES AND DOG FORUMS AND PEOPLE WHO REALLY WANT TO SPREAD THE WARNINGS AND SAVE THE PETS.

No, guys. I know and believe it's a law. I'm saying it's BS that it is/would be a law.

    It's sickening.
