The sponsor of this foum [linkhttp://www.dog.com/food.asp?Category=Dog%20Food]dog.com[/link] has Canidae and Solid Gold  that you can order online. I just heard about this next site from this fourm  [linkhttp://www.naturalpetmarket.com/category_detail.cfm?categoryid=175&varpageid=999&uplevel=All%20Natural%20Dog%20Food&level=Dry%20Dog%20Food]naturalpetmarket.com[/link] and here is another one [linkhttp://www.petfooddirect.com/store/]petfooddirect.com[/link]

Also, if you go to some of their websites online, they have a store locator, where they can provide you with a list of stores carrying their product in your area. When I switched Stitches from Nutro to Canidae that was how I found out which stores around my area carried it. A lot of the smaller pet stores around where I live tend to carry the more specialized brands.

Joey eats Nature's Logic and has been doing great.  I used to rotate between a bunch of different brands, but I recieved a free bag of Nature's Logic and ended up with wonderfull results.  It fixed health problems I didn't know were fixable.  For example, he's always had slimy pooh.  Since I started feeding Nature's Logic, the pooh is firm and consistant.  He used to have cloudy eyes, not exactly catoracts, but cloudy. His vet had even asked if he had a siezure at one time due to his cloudy eyes.  Within 2 weeks of feeding Nature's Logic, his eyes cleared up and he looks so much younger.

I  know it is the mounds of probiotics (or healthy intestinal bacteria found in yogurt that aids in digestion)  that solved the pooh problems.  I think it is the monmorillonite clay that cleared his eyes up.  Monmorillonite is a toxin binder and flusher.

While Nature's Logic works wonders for Joey, it might not for your little guy.  Chihuahuas are an extreme breed.  I've heard that Royal Canin Chihuahua has saved many a chi's life.  I've heard great things about Royal Canin.  So if the "holistic" foods aren't working for you, maybe try RC.

I feed my three Timberwolf Organics and have for several years.  I order direct from their website and have had no problems with customer service or delivery.  My orders alway arrive promptly, usually 3-4 days and the food is always fresh.  I rotate the Wild & Natural, Ocean Blue, Dakota Bison & the Wilderness Elk.  It is supplemented with their canned pheasant every few days.  They all love the food and thrive on it.

I feed Maggie, Zhi, and Ben a grain free kibble in the am, topped with canned fish or homecooked goodies (grain free). The working dogs get a locally milled kibble, supplemented with ground meat or canned fish. Both get raw meaty bones at night, and organ meats every few days.

I feed Timberwolf Organics as well. Max had the same problem with the diarhea. He also had eye boogers, nasty ears, and was scratching more then he should've been. I switched him to the Dakota Bison formula, and the diarhea disappeared. He still gets some eye boogers, but I believe that is from stuff in the air. His ears are a little better, but that just comes with the territory of having a long eared dog. His scratching subsided as well. Hope this helps.

I feed Canidae All Life Stages in the am and at night he gets raw meaty Bones.

    What an adorable chihuahua!!
I have lots of info geared toward chihuahua nutrition with specific brand recommendations, etc on my site.  (there's a link to my site in my signature).

I am homecooking but would highly recommend Timberwolf Organics or Orijen if you use kibble.

My 3 goldens get purina one (senior for Buck age 12 and KayCee age 7 1/2 and weight management for Honey age 5 1/2) plus home cooked chicken stew mixed in 5 nights a week, fresh or canned fish (salmon, mackeral) and unsalted canned mixed veggies the other two nights.

I am homecooking due to the recall.

Last night I made a big pot of chicken, canned mackeral, sweet potatoes, red potatoes, broccoli, squash, apples, cauliflower, carrots, and green beans. Home cooking is a pain in the butt (for me anyway) and expensive with 5 dogs, but it is nice to have total control over what goes into their food.

Prior to the recall I used Blue Buffalo Dry/Canned, or Maxximum Nutrition. I had been planning on trying Natural Balance...but I'm sticking to home cooking for now.

Ratsicles - I'm with you - I've switched to homecooking, at least for now.  I can imagine what its like for you with 4 big dogs (not forgetting the chi - but he's a little one).
I have a 15 lb poodle mix.  Before homecooking (just started 2 days ago) I was feeding 1/4 cup NB Fish/Sweet Potato kibble plus 1/2 can of various brands and flavors including Canidae, Solid Gold, Blue Buff and NB.

I think this all goes back to showing what the attitude was here about a year ago. If you're feeding a high quality food (Eagle Pack, Innova, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Solid Gold, etc) you can feel a lot safer than buying anything found in a Petsmart/Petco. The sudden rush of people advocating lower quality foods will hopefully be curbed at this point. With every new call I get (retailer), I seethe at how these are the same people that would not listen until their pet's life was at stake. At the same time, I'm happy that they're finally taking steps to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

Sorry, had to vent. To reply to the topic (which seems to come up every other day), I'm feeding Nature's Variety kibble in the morning and NV raw at night. In the past I've fed Solid Gold, Eagle Pack, and FarMore and would recommend all three of them.

schlep - which Nature's Variety kibble are you feeding?  I was considering trying the Prairie line but it looks like there are so many ingredients I was afraid my dog wouldn't be able to handle it.

A guy at work last week asked me if I was worried about all the recalls.  I said no, because I wasnt.  He asked why not so I told him because I feed all natural foods and Holistic, how they have their own manufacturing plant and they are premium foods ect ect.  Not a couple days later the NB recall happened.  I tell you, now I am worried cuz it's affecting a premium food.  I was fairly confident with what I feed and now it seems any food can be affected since none of the labes seem to be correct.
