wait. You can order directly FROM Eagle Pack???
If that's the case, I'd probably do that. But I will email them and ask if they have any stores near me that sell it or if they can ship near me where it won't cost me $15-$20 to ship a bag.
    Thanks!

I'm looking for better stools, people.

Is there a feed store nearby that sells Nature's Variety raw medallions? Jessie has firm stool on Eagle Pack but she has anal sac problems. I feed her the raw medallions for lunch and they make her stool very firm (almost stiff); she doesn't need to have her anal sacs expressed as often. Unless Ella's allergic to ingredients in the regular Eagle line, it may be worth a try to see how she does; kennel_keeper, who has Beagles that compete in field trials, has great results with it. Jessie's allergic to the ingredients in the foods in the regular line so I've never tried them.

    JB Wholesale has Eagle Duck and doesn't charge extra for shipping heavy items. A 15lb. bag is $24.99;

    and shipping is $8.99;  [linkhttp://www.jbpet.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=3]http://www.jbpet.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=3[/link]

Good idea Rebecca!  Write to them. I thought that one of our Idoggers ordered direct,,maybe I misunderstood,,,but she is out of town now and can't answer. I would write to them. Also,,,on seaching for Eagle... I see Eagle is on Petcos website...if you have a Petco near your house I would go there and ask them to order it. I also found Duck formula on Amazon at this link:

    [linkhttp://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Holistic-Select-Oatmeal-Formula/dp/B0006VSXBG/ref=pd_sbs_k_4/103-2775233-0496666]http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Holistic-Select-Oatmeal-Formula/dp/B0006VSXBG/ref=pd_sbs_k_4/103-2775233-0496666[/link]
It was at least $5 less than I just paid for it at PSP last week.  THAT was for a 30# bag, but their price must be good.
As far as Eagle Pack and stools, both Ollie and Bubblgum have large firm,,,very firm stools with both eating Eagle Pack.

The company that sells Eagle Pack through Amazon, wanted $19.67 for shipping alone! And what ticks me off about that is that it said SPECIFICALLY that Amazon was shipping it, not the company. If Amazon was shipping it, why didn't I (with the other items I ordered) qualify for free shipping??? CRAZY. Someone's making bank on shipping!

So, thanks for that suggestion, Dyan, but I won't be ordering it from them [:D]

I asked my Petco today and the lady gave me the STUPIDEST look and said, "what?" and I said, "Eagle Pack. Do you sell, Eagle Pack food?" "...no."

And when I looked up on Petco's site (and Petsmart, for that matter) I couldn't find the Holistic Duck and Oatmeal formula.
I tell ya, hahahaha, this is complicated!
I'll feel like I should be winning a prize once I actually get the food! hahaha. And it better be good!

OT, Will shelters take opened bags of food?
I figured that if for some reason the food doesn't agree with Ella or I end up not liking the results (which it's doubtful that I won't like the results, but you never know...), I could donate the rest to a shelter (like a local place).

But I understand if shelters won't take open bags of food.

    Gee,,,I don't blame you!
Try these links....most you need your zip code to figure shipping. These were on Eagles website...they were the less expensive choices.

[linkhttp://www.animalworldnetwork.com/eapahosedume.html]http://www.animalworldnetwork.com/eapahosedume.html[/link]  $17.95 shipping $5 to $10. http://www.epetpals.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?search=action&keywords="eagle%20holistic%20duck"   $17.99   SHIPPINGhttp://www.heartypet.com/products.php?cat=15  >http://www.epetpals.com/shipping_policies.htm http://www.heartypet.com/products.php?cat=15   $21.87 with $2.00 off,,, can't figure shipping. [linkroduct_Code=18986-2]http://www.thehungrypuppy.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&;Product_Code=18986-2[/link] >http://www.thehungrypuppy.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&;Product_Code=18986-2]http://www.thehungrypuppy.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&;Product_Code=18986-2[/link]  $20.98  I would also write to Eagle...see what they say. See if they ship, or see if they know of a place closer to you to get it.  Did you try the Eagle Pack locator?? i order a lot of stuff, esp. bird stuff from petfooddirect.com and s&h has always been a flat fee of $8.99, even though ive had as much as 30# of bird seed delivered, amongst other things.

They have 15# of the holistic eagle pack duck for $22.49, 30# for $34.99.

Use coupon code GEICO for an extra 20% off....so it could even basically mean S&H is free.

Try contacting Eagle Pack and ask them who is the DISTRIBUTOR for your area. Then contact the distrubutor to find out who sells it. They distributor is going to be able to give you the information you need and may be willing to sell it to you directly.
Many times there are retailers who sell foods that don't register with the company (manufacturer) so, won't be listed on the website as a retailer, but the distributors know who they sell to and most would be happy to point you in the right direction.

As far as donating foods, if your shelter won't take opened bags, try a rescue group, a wildlife rehabber, or post it on Freecycle. Don't just chuck it :)

Good luck in your search and I hope that you find a place to purchase it.

    Hi Coco,

How do you get 8.99 flat rate at pet food direct? I tried and for a 33# bag to Florida was $16.49. Do I have to enter a discount code for the flat rate?

    Thanks

my dogs thought EP duck and oatmeal was inedible, but do you have any little non-chain pet stores in your area? go look on Innova's site to see who is selling Innova near you, and I'll bet they carry EP as well.
I find the best way to get proper stools in dogs is to avoid grains and fiber. These ingredients tend to give you bulky soft stools-- some dogs make well-formed bulky soft stools, but once you've seen the stools of a raw-fed dog the difference is shocking; your idea of a "normal" doggy poop will be altered forever. EP has a lot of grain in it. You want hard stools? try supplementing with raw meaty bones, one of the pre-made raw diets, or try one of the high-protein no-grain foods.

    Mudpuppy,

I've fed raw. I don't feed raw anymore (not as a sole food, anyway) because Ella's hair started thinning and I had to feed her 3 lbs. a day to get her to keep weight on.

I have her on T.O.'s Ocean Blue and even on their wild and Natural and their Bison, she had large, formed, but soft stools.

I've recently started crockpotting for a kibble topper for her. I've added rice to it and for some reason, her stools have shrunk and firmed up. And that's WITH me cutting back on Prozyme. And when I add the homecooked, no, I DO NOT cut back on the amount of kibble I feed her.

Make sense? No, but if it's the rice, then I'm willing to try a food with rice. Or keep her on T.O. until this food recall crap clears up.

oh, and her poops ARE fabulous on raw, but I have to be careful not to give her too many RMBs or her poop literally comes out of her like sand/powder.

all dogs are different--some of mine get nasty gas and diarrhea from rice.

She probably needs some carbs to keep weight on; have you thought about raw with a good helping of well-cooked rice or sweet potato?

Tzu mon, if you will email me dirict I would like to know which PSP is not listed so I can get it listed. Thanks

I have thought about raw and then just giving her some rice, but the hair thinning problem still remains. I don't know why her hair would thin on raw. It makes me feel as though I was missing some very important nutrients in her diet. But I was supplementing with sea kelp, salmon oil, vitamin e, and a yeast free b-complex.
Oh, and of course I'd add the appropriate amounts of eggshell for calcium.
I've ordered some of Monica Segal's booklets on homecooking and balanced raw diets.
