Ella just threw up/Dakota Bison

I think it is just a "thing".. i would try the food again rebecca on her next meal and see what happens. Also I didn't notice if you said this but did she eat the new food any faster or something? Sometimes my pups will puke if they eat too fast...

    Thanks, Kelly.

Shelly- I mixed in the 1/8 cup with her Ocean Blue and she ate the food at her same speed as usual.

But you all know what I forgot???
The weather dropped 40 degrees here since yesterday and there's flurries. My boyfriend thinks it might be the weather change that caused her to vomit.

That can definately do it.  I know with horses a change in weather (and thus a change in barometric pressure) can cause their blood vessels to constrict causing "freakiness" and sometimes stomach issues.   And by "freakiness" I mean....OMG a leaf dropped in the middle of the woods somewhere...I am going to bolt and attempt to buck you off!!!   ....that is all [8D]

wow! That might explain that while she's been acting normal, my boyfriend went to pet her head (he was facing her so it's not like he snuck up on her) and she jumped back so hard she slammed herself into the kitchen table.
    Weird.

we were just in the garage

any chemicals at dog-sniffing level?  If she's potentially prone to airborne allergens, could an airborne chemical odor have upset her?
Unless it happens again or she's acting abnormally, I wouldn't worry.  If it's mostly watery with no foam and very little food, sounds like she simply tanked on water.  Do an experiment and take some of the kibble and soak in water - see how quickly and to what degree it expands.  I'm curious if the Bison expands faster/larger than she's used to with her other kibble.  Totally just curiosity as I have no idea, but, since we're asking questions, why not explore?

I add water to her kibble before I feed it and the bison kibble is still smaller than the Ocean Blue is when soaking wet.
I had her in the garage next to me, but I guess it could be possible that she got something in her nose.

I fed her over 2 hours ago and she's holding everything down just fine now, thanks again, guys!

Woo hoo!  Fluke it is!!  So glad she is ok today.
Smoochy face kisses to Ella!  Those cheeks are the cutest!

[:D] So far she's OK, we'll see about her skin, though. That might take a little while.

I love to come and visit you guys here on the forum, to see all of your responses.  Not only do I get to see your point of view, but I learn A LOT!

I just wanted to say it is very refreshing to see all of you giving alternate reasons to why the dog might vomit, other than the food.  A lot of times, pet owners call us freaking out if their dog vomits once (even if it is like 5 or 6 hours after dinner time) and never does it again.  I always tell them to keep an eye on their little guy/girl and if it happens again, to give us a call.  We almost never get another call about pukies again.

Let me know if you guys need anything!  Things are starting to finally slow down around here...

I just wanted to report that Ella is up to 1/2 cup bison 1/2 cup of Ocean Blue and she's handling it WELL.
In fact, she's actually pooping less so far. We'll see how long she handles it well. I hope forever so that I can add it to her food rotation. I'd be happy.
Yeah, instead of pooping 2 or 3 decent sized piles (but they were even bigger without the added Prozyme), she's pooping 2 regular to small sized piles a day.

Sorry, nothing'll ever beat poops from raw food, but I'll take this over gigantic, soft piles.

Was she vaccinated recently?  Exposed to other dogs that could have had a doggy virus? Dog park?  New cleaning product/carpet powder/shampoo?

Was it just a wet burp or was it the yak yak yak urp kind?
