Need help ASAP

Sorry I am getting here so late. I am joining my "get well" thoughts to all the other ones. I hope you find some reassuring answers from the new vet.

Ashley - Did you hear anything more on Raja's tests?  I hope today brings some good news for you, but let us all know.

Sorry it took me so long to give you guys any more info on Raji, I was at the vets most of the day.

So we went to a new vet, and were very happy with them, they were great. They were willing to take the Care Credit Card and work out a payment plan if the cost goes over the Care CC, and Raja really seemed to like the vet techs and vet.

They did an x-ray, it came back good with nothing indicating that the HW is getting worse.

The reason she is caughing is because the vet thinks she has an Upper Respratory Infection. She thinks it is that and not conplications from the Heartworm, which is great news[sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]

The bloodwork and urinalisys will be back tommarow to see if her kidneys are fine, because now that her x-ray came back good, it seems like the only reason for her vomiting is because of the tained food.

Also, the vet said with Great Danes (she is probabaly half GD) that they can be sensitive toward the Ivermectin and now with this, it seems it is either she is having a bad reaction toward the Ivermectin or she has kidney damage from the recalled foods.

Now that I got approved for the Credit Card I can afford to pay for the Immidicide through the vet's. Also they are giving me a good price on it, and are going to try just one shot, and not 2 or 3. Then see how things are.

So Raja is at home in her crate...I'm keeping her quite and she still is pretty sleepy, she ate some rice and chicken tonight and her fever has gone a bit down.

Gosh that care credit card sounds like a really great idea,i wish more people knew about it.

Care Credit is nice to have in case of emergencies or a vet bill that you don't realize is going to be $200 too much to pay out of pocket at the time of the visit. That's what happens to me EVERYTIME I take Ella in for her skin issues. I walk out NEVER spending LESS than $200. My girl has some EXPENSIVE skin. Sometimes that $200 can really break me. Now it won't.

Glad to see the good news about the X-ray not showing any worsening of the HW. Sending "good bloodwork and pee analysis" and healing thoughts. Keeping fingers and paws crossed for Raja.
 
It is great that you found a vet about whom you feel good and who is ready to work with you on the money aspect.

I'm so glad you went the extra mile for your dog.  I'm praying for good tests, and that she is healthy, but if something does happen and you need any information on charities that might help with emergency care, PM me.  Also, if it is related to tainted food, save everything you can.  Keep a notebook, document everything!

The vet called today and said all the bloodwork and urinalysis came back great and normal. So she must just have an Upper Respratory Infection.

I did not get approved for a credit limit increase but luckily the total for everything will only be about $150 over the Care Credit Card limit, and I cancelled her dog training that I had signed her up for, (since now she can't do it anyways because of the HW treatment) which givbes me $195, so that I can pay for the extra of her treatment.
 
Shes also eating alot better and her fever stopped. I'm just so happy it wasn't the the tained food, or her HW getting worse!
 

That's great news; I'm so glad it wasn't anything serious and that she's feeling better. It sounds like everything worked out.
