Timberwolf Organics - Problems

The pet store I went to only carried 3 varieties: Black Forest Venison and Lamb, Lamb and apple and the Ocean Blue.

Oh! I see. Ocean Blue is good, too, if you decide you want to rotate their foods. I've never given Ella the
lamb and apples before, so I cannot say what it's like.

Newbie on the forum....I've read through the thread but did not find anything on the 'bag change'. Does anybody no anything about the new silver bags with a sticker label? Is this a permanent change and/or what is the story behind it?

I *think* those silver bags exist until they get new bags.

If you want me too I can tell you the reason why we have silver bags shipping out right now, which is directly related to the ingredients that were originally printed on the bag.

I have a 3 1/2 year old black labrador...Baxter. He's done very well on Timberwolf for close to 2 years. His coat is gloss black, weight is spot on, and minimal shedding. He's very healthy. I'm extremely particular about his diet and health. I can't say enough about how well he's been doing on TWO. The bag change caught me by surprise today. Before switching to TWO, I noticed a bag change with his previous food...and this was due to an ingredient change in what was/is?? considered a high quality food. One of the changes included the addition of synthetic vitamin k which is banned for human consumption. Needless to say he didn't eat an ounce of the new formula at the time and made the switch to TWO. I just found this in one of Chris's posts but haven't had a chance to compare labels. Just curious and a bit paranoid due to the past. Overall, kudos to TWO....and what I consider one of the best foods on the market.

My dog does absolutely WONDERFUL on the Ocean Blue. I up the protein on my own by adding homecooked to her kibble.
I've never had smell issues with any of the formulas I've tried, with any of the bags I've picked up.
It ALWAYS smells good enough for me to eat!

Gracie is doing fine on the Wilderness Elk.  (Vet suggested I drop the OB if I think that's contributing to her coat color changing.... but I still suspect a possible thyroid, so, this may/may not rule it out.)

Only problem is our local store stopped carrying it because TWO couldn't supply the store in a reasonable time.  ie, would be several weeks to fulfill an order for the store, whose management felt that was far too long to make owners wait, and I agree.  *sigh* - so, that's my latest "problem" w/TWO.  Waiting for Chris to return and respond to my e-mail asking for other nearby retailers.
ETA - just realized my PM inbox was full!!  Might be why I hadn't heard back yet![:)]

    What about plug-in air fresheners?

I love Timberwolf. My dogs and cats love it. They tear through the bag if I leave it in reach. I don't mind if my food comes in a plain silver bag. I was under the impression that they were changing the bags, and probably needed to use generic bags until the new ones were made. I don't feed the bag to my pets, just the food. I also don't care what size kibble it comes in- although if you are going to change the kibble size, you really should inform the consumer so they don't think you mixed up the food somehow.

Chris, as far as I'm aware most of your meats come from free-range animals. Can you tell me which, if any, of them don't come from free-range? And by free-range I mean mostly fed grass/able to roam around in a protected area/etc. NOT animals in a factory "farm" or chickens housed in the typical shed with barely room to spread their wings. Companies are so deceptive in making you think the food animals weren't suffering. I just want to make sure. For some reason I suspect the chickens are not free-range. I know that the term isn't regulated by the fda for chickens, but you know what I'm asking. Thanks~

oooh!  ooooh!!  I just found that my previously fav dog food store is NOW carrying TWO. (They weren't before, which is why I had to go to a different store.)  They only carry a few of the formulas, but one is that Elk I need!  Wooo hoo!  So, I bought my first silver bag today - I can see why it would throw people off.  But I'm psyched we can get her food - and still at a competitive price.

It bothers me that a company entrusted with pets lives cannot even plan ahead and get their bags ordered so that they don't run out. And this is the second time it's happened. I've never seen another company have to use generic bags with stickers.

I understand, but I just want to let you know that I love your avatar. Boomer's THE BEST!

Hey Chris, I never got that email. Did you ever send it out? I would be really interested in seeing those responses; thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Can you even send an email through my profile?

This just occured to me... Someone here was complaining that TO was cheap for using up the old bags before they buy new ones. Well, I actually really admire a company that doesn't throw away thousands of bags because they are old. All that trash and waste. Plastic is so bad for the environment. Besides, they SAID ON THE WEBSITE that the bags would come in plain silver bags (when I ordered). They specifically said what kind of bag each food would come in. And the ingredients are right there on the website so that you know what's in the food, even if the ingredients on the bag are old. I got my food for like a third of the price that they are charging now because of that.

I think you misunderstood, they aren't throwing away bags, they are running out.  Before the new bags arive they use generic silver ones.

Yeah.  I went to the Phydeaux store here in NC that carries TWO and they actually told me they were thinking of not carrying it anymore b/c of the bag thing being the "last straw."  They said over half of the customers already kept returning food b/c of the shape/size/color differences in the kibble, and since TWO didn't refund the pet store the money, they were losing more than they were making.  They told me the bag thing was "kind of embarassing," especially when they had to explain why the bags were different to the customers.
