Timberwolf Organics - Problems

Right, but the point is that TWO doesn't make the type of food that was recalled, nor does it use wheat or wheat gluten in it's ingredients.  So why should people start boycotting them because they will not give out confidential information when there is nothing about their product that has anything to do with the recall?  I don't even feed TWO, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

For me it's not JUST this one issue, it's a combination of all the issues that Sooner outlined. [;)]

Apples and oranges littlesaint.  For me at least I could still buy LOCAL produce which is my primary source during the growing season. Locally grown spinach wasn't included in the recall. So no, I didn't worry about it, BUT, I can also avoid those products for the short term.  I can eat OTHER veggies if need be, and I guess that folks are trying to source different FOODS without feeling the need to be worried about the life and death of their dogs.

That was meant tongue-in-cheek.  Hence the icon: [;)] ...so serious.  I would never question anyones passion for wanting what is best for their dogs or themselves for that matter.

The industry I work in has a direct relationship with the Internet as a whole and when incidents like this food recall occur, the Internet is responsible for more mis-information and causing more confusion than other other information outlet due to the viral nature in which that information spreads.  The source of these misconceptions are blogs and forums where information is unchecked and the people providing it are mostly anonymous.  I can watch conspiracy theories, mis-information, and particular agendas move from one forum or blog to next like a plague.  It's like mob mentality spread across the Internet.  It so happens that this time I happen to be involved in different forums myself since I adopted a new pup, and it's frustrating to see some of this process unfold in front of you and get caught up in it.  My comments are not so much a defense of TWO as I find their policies just as peculiar and somewhat annoying as anyone else, but more to the irrational reactions I'm seeing all over the Internet over this recall.  I'm not trying equate passion with irrational reaction but the line between becomes very thin with situations like this.

So... I told a fib... that was not my last post on this thread... shoot me haha!

I just want to make sure that everyone knows that our company, Timberwolf Organics, has designed and tested all of our own formulas.  We do not slap our labels on someone else's concoction and call it our stuff.  The majority of the companies that were involved in the recall were private labeled, meaning they all had the same food in their cans, with their label on there.

We find our own ingredients including the spices, herbs and meats.  We conduct our own testing, and from each and every run of food we receive complete packages here at the corporate office to sample and test at our discretion.

I just want you to know we are different.  We are very protective over our formulas... and if I give out the location of our mill, there is a possibility that a competitor can get inside info form them.

It is a competitive business, and I assure you that regardless of what some may say, the safety of your pets is a very big deal for us.  If there were a recall that involved us or our formulas, we would tell you.

I know you are right about a lot of rumors and misinformation being spread.  Same with e-mails.  BUT at the same time i think a lot of good comes out of the net because people can learn things they would not otherwise know.  Had i known how to use a computer and had i done research, i would have found that proHeart6 was killing dogs all over the country, causing severe reactions in thousands, causing hundreds, if not thousands to be on drugs the rest of their life, I would still have Hunter because I WOULD HAVE NEVER allowed that stuff to be injected into his body.  Now i research anything prescribed to me dogs.  Anything new comes out i want to know all about it including the risks.

The makers of Proheart6 was jumping around the net saying it was all hype, all hysteria, etc, rumors, grieving dog owners trying to blame their product.  Meanwhile and more and m ore whose dog/dogs died of the first time siezures, sudden gastric bleeding, AIHA in 3-6 weeks after injections, people whose vets said it was the PH6 were telling their stories.  People learned who to report to the FDA and reports compiled and paterns were seen.  Many, if not most, of us sent our dogs complete medical history to the FDA.  People like me who lost Hunter, Jean who lost Tasha and Niki and almmost lost Casey,  Janice who lost Trouble, Myra who lost Duker, Sue who lost  Bandit, the one who lost Precious and almost lost Jamie Lyn, the one who lost Cheif, and the list goes on and on did tell our stroies and many people have told us we quite possibily saved their dogs as they either got them off the PH6 and decided against using it.  And ten months after Hunter's death the FDA had the maker pull it because of so many deaths and reactions and to this day, dogs that have  been on meds for reaction are still dying.

And then of course you get the swiffer mop rumor, the plug in air refreshner rumor, etc.  I know it is sometimes hard to believe and what not to believe.  I just learned the very hard way to research, to never totally dismiss something until proven one way or the other, and to never totally believe something until proven one way or the other.  When a product is reported as dangerous but it is the same repeated story everywhere, i tend to doubt a little.  But when there are new stories about reactions/deaths, etc coming up, and I am talking hundreds, not one or two, I tend to take it seriously.

I *think* it was the venison......
littlesaint, truth be told, everyone in my famiy knows that if they come to visit they have to share the guestroom with the spinach, lettuce and scallions that grow in there in the winter.  I love salads and spinach, either steamed or raw and I hate getting the stuff that's been shipped in from who knows where.......and scallions are too bloody expensive in the winter.......

Just because they are not giving out the information does not mean they are being secretive or have something bad to hide.

During this fiasco I#%92ve lost a little faith in a lot of companies. That includes Natura and Eagle Pack because they use their own facilities as a selling point. So if they don#%92t make their own canned foods, I#%92d like to know who does. Most companies are making that information available. The few that won#%92t seem suspicious in comparison. JMO. Whether they are suspicious or not, they seem that way.

Lol, they don't make a venison food. It's okay, I was just curious.

Ummmmmmm, Bison maybe?  Heck I don't remember what I had for dinner last nite so I'm not great at remembering what THEY ate months ago....

Ahhh, looks like I'm going to have to eat my words! [:D] That's the one that I never look into because the protein and fat % is so low and I think most dogs need higher. Anywho, I was wrong. [;)]

I've been to some California farms since the produce recalls and at risk of being hypocritical about Internet responsibility let me say that growing your own produce is a very good idea, and short of that wash everything, even the pre-washed stuff.

Ewwwwww!  My sister buys the bagged salads and doesn't wash the stuff.  I can SMELL the preservatives or whatever they use.  And, can NOT eat it.

I lived in CA for 6 years, and truthfully, if folks saw the way the cows live out there they'd never buy those "Happy Cow" commercials!  And yeah, cows right next to the strawberry fields does nothing for me either!

The Proheart story is a good example of benefits of the Internet.  I myself am taking my dog off of Revolution as I've read about enough vets who are stopping it because of concerns about how well it works.  It also shows why it is important to resist spreading unverified information.  You risk "chicken little" status in that people become unsure what to believe.  The PetConnection site has some good information, but they put up statistics about the food recall that came from poor assumptions and a database with unverified data.  A link to the stats spread to hundreds of sites within hours.  It was almost picked up by the major news outlets looking to "break the big story".  IMO PetConnection was irresponsible in creating paranoia with these statistics.  I think I've gone far enough off topic so I'll quit there.

I began feeding TWO in January and barring some radical change in my experience and/or product won't be looking elsewhere. Love the food, am super thankful that I can feed a food with over 25% protein that has no chicken or egg.  Dog loves it - looks great on it, heck in a pinch I think I could eat it.
My experiences with CS have been stellar - orders have been correct and prompt.
Heck DH was fuming about the cost but seeing how long its lasting and seeing how great allergy dog looks and is behaving he is now thrilled with it too.
As a shrink I am no confusion over what signing a non-disclosure form means.  Expecting an individual to breech that is a sign of immaturity at the least.
Rehashing 'old' problems with a company that has had a huge turnover is what I a grudge.
So what the food didn't work for you as well as something else - the ideal diet for me is different than the ideal diet for DH - what's the point?
Fortunately my giant breed dog is fine with whatever kibble size you put in his bowl so I don't care about the kibble size or the fact that it may change.
I would expect to and do need to know about formula changes due to allergies but  understand that companies have a reasonable allowance of time to address changing the bags.  i learned this when still using another food and being told that they hadn't changed the bags yet.  Don't like it but its the law.

And yes I am a laid back person, I am as far from a cynic as you can be.
Personally if you don't like TWO don't feed it - there's no need to keep bringing up negative experiences that are now historic.  Move on - life is too short.
For me and more importantly for Bugsy we are thrilled with it.
Different strokes for different folks ay?

lol beware! (j/k) My sample bags of TO lamb and apples said "not fit for human consumption."  I had a thread with that awhile back...it was an interesting discussion [:D] (and interesting as to why they put that on the bags, lol)
