EVERY Nutro canned product recalled?

    EVERY Nutro canned product recalled?

I went to two Petsmart stores today looking for something and noticed that there wasn't a single can of Nutro. At the second store there was a Nutro rep so I asked him and he said Nutro's recall included everything - but Nutro's site still says 'cuts and gravy' style. Regardless, there wasn't a can of Max, Natural Choice or Ultra in sight.

Looking at their recall list on their website [linkhttp://www.nutroproducts.com/menufoods.asp]http://www.nutroproducts.com/menufoods.asp[/link]
it has 16 different cans of food that they are recalling...how many other formulas do they have?

I don't know, but this is off their site too:

This recall applies to certain wet food only. No dry Nutro pet foods, biscuits or treats are impacted by this matter and no other canned or pouched Nutro products are subject to this recall.

I wonder if maybe Petsmart just decided to pull all Nutro cans to be on the safe side? [8|]

That's what I was thinking, but then why would the Nutro rep say they were all recalled? I would be impressed if Petsmart pulled everything just to be safe.

I was at Pet Supplies Plus today----they have also pulled ALL cans of Nutro.

Oh, I missed that part. It's time for dinner and my brain's getting a little fuzzy. [;)] lol That's weird that the rep said one thing and the website said another. Doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence. [8|]

Did you read this from pet connection? The bold is mine. I am wondering if it means more bad news.

quote: We will not be posting much on the recall today, breaking news excepted. To be blunt: We need a break, need to recharge our batteries for Monday morning, when we hear there will be further developments.

HHHhmmmmmmm  if you go to PetSmart recalled products, they had 22 items listed for dog food alone from Nutro.

The latest news I heard on another dog forum was that the recall has been widened.

       Thanks Toby; that explains Nutro recalling all its canned food;

TORONTO — A pet food recall has been expanded to include all varieties of its wet dog and cat food, amid concerns that tainted products are still being sold.
The Mississauga, Ont.-based Menu Foods is asking retailers to remove all wet food items as a safety precaution, regardless of the date code.
In a weekend release, Menu Foods said that even brands not on the official recall list should be taken off the shelves.
There is no known risk from items not listed on the recall list, but there is concern that consumers may still be able to buy recalled products.

    Menu's release:

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 24, 2007) - As a result of reports from the FDA and various media outlets that some recalled lots of "cuts and gravy" style wet pet food remain on store shelves, Menu Foods has asked all retail outlets to immediately remove all impacted varieties of wet pet food posted at www.menufoods.com, regardless of the date code.

Menu Foods remains concerned that consumers are able to purchase recalled items.

There is no known risk from items not listed on the recall list but an abundance of caution is called for in this situation. FDA has been apprised of this action.

ETA: Unless I'm reading it wrong, it's the same varieties as before, just all dates now.

When I heard the press release from menu food pres on tv...I think it was Friday...No one knew what ingredient was tainted..I know Wheat gluten was suspected when this news broke...But I dont think they really know what ingredient is the cause yet...there was more testing to be done..I think this will get worse before it get's better...

Menu foods makes 100%  of   the canned foods for Iams and Eukanuba, yet I see both of these still on sale at two local supermarkets in Atlanta.....
