    EVO

What do you think about EVO?  It the high protein beneficial?  Do dogs need the high protein? I've been looking at foods and this one seems different -- just looking for opinions :)

I think it's a great food for active dogs--my puppy did very well on it.  I think that the protein content is not appropriate for large breed puppies, but aside from that I have heard only good results [:)]

My neighbor feeds his german shepherd EVO (just started recently) and he's starting to look pretty good. His dad has a 1 year old pitbull he's been feeding Barking at the Moon for several months, and that thing is ripped. [sm=biggrin.gif]

They both seem like really high quality foods, and save you a buck or two.

I've been feeding my 2 year old Miniature Pinscher Innova EVO for, oh, about 2 months now. Her coat glistens! It's soft, velvety and smooth! On Nutro, her coat was not as soft and it was a bit dandruffy. She is also very muscular (as schlep mentioned about) and she has bright, healthy eyes. I think it's a wonderful food. I can't feed raw, so I went with the next best thing, which is EVO, IMO. I don't think dogs need grains in their diet. I think they need meat and lots of it, not cereal. I highly recommend it.

do you think the high protein/phosphorus levels will lead to kidney issues?

I was wondering the same thing applejack. I don't want to feed evo to my bichon because they are already prone to kidney disease, and i wouldn't want the high protein levels to flare anything up.

The protein is not that high in the scheme of things.  The calcium/phosphorus ratio will not cause kidney problems because it is an excess of phosphorus that would cause this, and in the case of EVO, the calcium is what is a little high....that just causes rapid bone growth in susceptible dogs such as large/giant breeds.

I've been feeding Boss Evo for about a year now and he looks great. He lost the pudginess he was getting and when I take him outside his fur almost shines in the sun!
