well, in a market with karma organics, by nature organics, and newman's own organics why would jqp think timberwolf is any different? i'm sure plenty of quite intelligent people have been duped by their purposeful misleading

Intelligent people would read the ingredients and note that they are not certified organic.  Their name is only misleading to the uninformed, and people who don't know what organic means, and I highly doubt it is purposeful.  I could see if this was some mass market food catering to the supermarket shopper, but it's not.   It's a niche market food that's only available through mail-order in most of the country.  They don't need to use gimmicks to make sales because those who would consider this food would know better.

Then why use "organic" in their name? I think it gives them an advantage in the type of market they're competing in, which is owners who want to feed their dogs super-premium natural foods.

Well I at least hope you are kinder to yourself when you make mistakes.

I'm an intelligent person.  Yet when I got my gsds the vet said to feed them Purina Large Breed Puppy.  I did.  Being intelligent does NOT mean you know all things about all things.

To ME organic gardening is using no fertilizers, no chemicals, no pesticides.  To someone else, it might have a different meaning.

If manufacturers use misleading NAMES heaven forbid we not all spend hours and hours reading the labels to make sure the name fits.

Good grief, Paula, I guess you and I are just dummies for EVER making mistakes......

Is it really worth it to argue over the name of a dog food? Besides that, I think you guys are getting a little off the OP's topic.
    • Gold Top Dog
Agreed.  But, I don't think the name is the issue so much as the implication that perhaps anyone who believes the name is a dope.

I have tried both the EP holistic and TWO.  I wasn't impressed with either food, and most especially I didn't like the, errr, output.  Soft, mushy and with TWO, darker than normal. That doesn't mean that either is a BAD food, it means that neither worked well with my dogs.

This has come up before, and like i said then,i never linked timberwolforganics name with them actually using organic ingredients.Timberwolforganics is their name, nothing more, and a quick skim over their ingredients will show they dont use organic ingredients.Personally,i dont see the big deal.....

I'm sorry, but can you please explain the purpose of posting that link all over the forum?  I didn't wait for the thing to completely load either time, but I didn't see where it had any connection to either discussion where you put it in.

TWO is not a food I ever considered - I thought it was a little grain heavy.  I just took issue with this whole sentiment that people are stupid if they aren't wise to marketing ploys.

Paula, FWIW, I completely agree with your sentiments on this issue.

Their Ocean Blue (the only variety I've tried) is a good grain-free fish kibble.  Wild & Natural is also grain free.

Dakota, I'd not go so far as to say banned, but, yeah, it's annoying as heck to have meaningless links posted all over the board...and especially so for me with this danged dialup.
