    TWO and EP

Hi all... I've been feeding Lucky (9month old Shih Tzu)Natural Balance ever since I got him and I've been rotating through the different formulas.  He's doing fine on it but I read somewhere on the forum that I should switch between brands sometimes.

I am thinking of switching to TWO and/or EP... but I am not sure which formula to get.  I was looking through their sites to read about them.. but it's just soo much info.

    What do you guys suggest?

    Thanks as always!

I feed T.O.'s Ocean Blue and am quite pleased with it. I've never tried EP's.

Ocean Blue is grain-free, if that matters to you.

Well, those are my 2 favorite brands, so I don't think you could go wrong with either one. [:)] I would personally feed any TWO food other than the Black Forest or Lamb, Barley, and Apples. Black Forest has low protein/fat and barley is an ingredient that I don't like, so that's why I wouldn't feed the other one. But, those are just my reasons. [;)]

With Eagle Pack, I only feed the Holistic line and my favorite is the Chicken Meal & Rice because it's the highest protein and has multiple protein sources (chicken, fish, and pork). That's what Gingerbread is currently eating, mixed with canned Innova EVO Chicken & Turkey and he's doing great.

A poster on another board says that TWO is not organic even though they have it in their label. Is this the case?

Yes. The 'organics' is just part of the name. The only organic ingredient in any one of their products is about the 30th ingredient in the Southwest Chicken and Herbs - organic blue corn.

There's a blurb about it on the bottom of this pagehttp://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=organic

Wow! That is pretty ballsy; to put 'organic' in your name and not be anywhere near it  Thanks for the link BTW I've bookmarked it.

I really like the Eagle Pack foods. The Holistic line is wonderful. I am now feeding most of my guys Timberwolf, so far so good, but it has only been not even 2 weeks. My one Pug with a sensitive stomach is on the Eagle Duck and Oatmeal, best food he has ever been on, and one senior Pug is doing well on Eagle Holistic senior. Will probably always have Eagle in my rotation. It is one food I always seem to go back to. Eagle was not good for my black Pugs though, turned their coats reddish.

Would you guys consider EP to be higher quality then Chicken Soup?

I saw it the other day when I got a bag of CS and was looking at it, it is only like 6 or 7 dollars more I think. I didn't check at which one it was though. But, in general which do you consider better quality? Aside from Diamonds problems.

The word organic is defined as "Made of, derived from, or realting to living organisms" or " Simple, healthful, and close to nature".  No where does Timberwolf claim their food is certified organic.  It's not their fault ( or maybe it's their genius) that people have confused organic to mean "certified organic"

Oh I don't think they're innocent at all. They knew exactly what they were doing when they put the word 'organic' in their label, just like Beneful knew exactly what they were doing when they put pictures of vegetables on their bag. I've never fed TWO I have no opinion  on their food, but let's not be naive about advertising and product advancement.

If people aren't smart enough to know that the word organic does not necessarily mean "certified orgnanic" it's their own fault.  You could just as easily say that just because something is "certified organic" does not necessarily mean that it is  healthful.  Yet people always seem to assume so.

Oh come on.  It serves people right if they aren't smart enough to KNOW BETTER?  For crying out loud if people KNEW BETTER they wouldn't feed some of the crap foods they do, but educating the general public is a slow process.

The old caveat emptor - let the buyer beware?  So that excuses any industry from underhand practices since we should know better?  So I take it you know about automechanics, medicine, home construction, electric work, dentistry, tailoring, etc  Every profession known to man? Because otherwise you, like the rest of us, have to trust other people not to screw you. No one can possibly know everything about everything.
