Another Timberwolf/Diamond Thread

Yes, Sandra, I live in Mebane which is only a few miles (like 5) from Swepsonville/Graham area. It's a small world, isn't it! These are tiny little towns all clustered together, but they are such a pleasure to live in when your a "settled" down adult! My kids would prefer to live in a LARGE city where there is more to do (they grew up in the country). Now that they are grown, they still stay here.

My husband HATES it when I shop for dog stuff! LOL. It really is a nice place. Very upscale and current.

      I
was thinking that if a plant manufacturing human food had committed the violations that Diamond had, wouldn't they have been shut down or at least been made to pay a heavy fine?  I have been googling and cannot find any thing that says the FDA made Diamond pay a fine for the violations.

Seems like they should Janice, but I wonder if it were human food it would have made a difference or not,,,  did you find anything in your search about human food?

My three haven't become bored with theTO either.  I alternate between the Wild & Natural and the Ocean Blue.  Both my beagle and my jack russell are in great muscle tone.  I'm in Rocky Mount and can find only Natura products here.  I was ordering direct from TO but now order from a distributor in Charlotte.  I get next day delivery with reasonable shipping costs.  Probably cheaper than I could drive to Raleigh or Chapel Hill.

Dyan, I did not do a search about the FDA and production of human food; I searched specifically to see if Diamond was fined by the FDA for the violations in the Gaston plant.

More time and money is spent making sure the criminal has his/her rights than is spent to make sure the victims are okay. Some groups exact their own justice. It may be shortsighted and not always fair, but is quick and permanent. God forgives, the Brotherhood doesn't.

It seems to me that Diamond is at least being responsible about the problems.  They DID the recall quickly, they have, from what I've read, been helping with vet bills, etc, and have been responsive to pet owners.  The behavior of Merrick to Lori on the otherhand would be enough to cause me to NEVER buy their product.

Many years ago, when my youngest son was a baby, I used to buy powdered formula for the one meal a day that I wasn't home to feed him.   I opened a fresh can one day and found what appeared to be insect legs in it  We are talking about a top of the line formula, NOT a store brand.  The FDA did NOTHING.  So it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that no one does much against dog food companies...not when they were so unconcerned about what an infant might be ingesting.....

I agree Glenda.  Diamond probably had one or two people that were "sleeping on the job" in their SC plant. Unfortunately, many companies do. And unfortunately that error caused a lot of illness and death to some dogs, and that is so hard to take. BUT they did recall that food right away, they did take responsibility for it. Unfortunately it was hard to get the information out to all the people that bought it. We knew about it before it hit the news because we have people on the message boards that see these warnings...but they didn't put it on the tv  stations until several dogs were already dead.
I don't used Diamond, Bubblegum was on it from her breeder but I switched her to Eagle right after I got her. Maybe I would feel differently if I did still feed Diamond, but where I'm sitting right now I would not be worried about feeding any one of these foods that we are finding out that is being produced at a Diamond facility. Even Diamond itself had probably the strictest standards right now because of what happened.
BUT that said, I'm still not sure about feeding a food that has customer service that does not answer questions.
