I understand you had a question about whether or not Timberwolf products are manufactured by Diamond.

As the Chief Operations Officer of the Diamond Pet Food Company, I assure you that we do make these foods, and that they are doing quite well.

March was Timberwolf's biggest month in history and their business has grown over 400% in one year.

The company is quite sound, and their formulations are gaining popularity.

    Kind Regards,
    Mark

Something about the phrasing doesn't sit quite right with me, but there it is.

I haven't really followed the TO threads, but I agree Sooner.  It sounds like the COO of Diamond is selling, or at least bragging, about TO.
    • Gold Top Dog
That makes me mad....I wonder why he felt the need to say how well TO was doing?? [&:]

Oh well, I'm not going to stop buying TO, but I'm glad I know that information.
    • Gold Top Dog
So the admission that Diamond does in fact make TO counteracts the argument that Diamond does not have the certified facilities that are supposedly required to produce TO.  I wonder who is really telling the truth then?
    • Gold Top Dog
This is perplexing.  Several thoughts came to mind.

First, with the scares of Diamond Dog Food over the past few months their sales are probably down.  However, they are bound to make money off making the TO.  So play it up and get more people to buy it, therefore up their sales.

Second, if there were problems with the product used in Diamond dog food becuase folks were not doing their job then after reading that statement, how would folks buying TO  be reluctant to buy it?  But then again, all the problem with Diamond seems to stem from just one plant  But then again could you be sure YOUR TO was not made at that plant?    But then if I understand correctly, TO does not use corn and corn was the culprit in that bad dog food.  But then again, is it possible for residue to somehow get into other foods.  Head going in circles!

Third, To claims it's food is made by plant with certain certs.  Diamond makes to claim to having such certs.  Yet Diamond says they do make TO.  Seems to me if Diamond had top certs they would be bragging about it.

It all seems to boil down to one thing. Someone is not telling the truth.  Either Diamond has the certs but not telling and is making the TO food, or it doesn't have the certs and  TO is lying about their food being made in a plant with those certs, or Diamond does or doesn't have the certs, but is lying about TO being made in their plant.

This goes along with what I been saying--you can't trust any company to be totally honest when it comes to selling their products.  They will try to sweep every little bit of dirt under the rug, hide any  information against their product behind the file cabinet, and come out with huge grin saying how perfect everything is.

    Carl,
The post above that is quoting a letter made by mark but the person posting IS NOT Mark. I have read here in the past that TO is not the best with their customer service, I have never attempted to contact them so I have no idea to the truth of this so I can only suggest if you wish to use this product or distribute it that you continue to contact them.

I have been trying to follow this TO/Diamond conversation/debate and I'm sorry to me there is too much chance to using this food between the incorrectly marked bags, lack of CS and now the fact that Diamond is producing the foods.

I have used Diamond in the past, my dogs did well on it. This is the second time they have had an issue with their grains in the 12 years that I have been shwoing dogs. I will no longer use their products or anything produced by them...burn me once, shame on me, burn me twice, there will not be a third!

My guess is that Mark wouldn't lie about them producing TO at Diamond,,  seems too big of a lie to cover up. But I'm surprised he just "didn't answer" the letter,, I'm surprised he admitted it so easily since he must know that a lot of people are reluctant to used Diamond products because of the recent recall.
I never heard of TO until that past months and all the talk of it,,,and I honestly believe that right now anything made by Diamond  is probably very safe because of what happened, and chances are TO is made in Califonia plant not the SC plant where they had the last problem.  I'm sure everyone is on their toes now and trying to make a comeback. I noticed that they are advertising on the radio here in Cleveland.   But I don't think I would use the food because of all the things that you guys are writing about,,,such as NOT answering questions, and the questionable bags and things like that.

I think it's really sad that people are going to stop using/buying TO because of the Diamond thing.  TO doesn't use any of the susceptible grains (corn, etc) that Diamond had problems with, and I don't think people should turn off of a product if they haven't had any problems with it themselves.  For example, I know that they have had bagging issues and what-not in the past, but I have never experienced this, and the people who did....nothing bad happend to their dogs, right?  I guess you could say that I feel bad for TO, and I really advocate them because my dog has done better on their food than any others.  Is everybody really going to stop buying TO products because of this?? [:(]

sandra,  If you read the report of the inspection by the FDA of the Gaston plant, there were serious issues with wheat, rice bran, and chicken meal, as well as corn:
                        [linkhttp://www.mordanna.com/dogfood/downloads/FDA_Inspection_Diamond_Gaston.pdf]http://www.mordanna.com/dogfood/downloads/FDA_Inspection_Diamond_Gaston.pdf[/link]

Also, there was no documentation of NIR test results for whole corn for all of 2005.

I think it was Lori (WillowChow) who found packing staples in the bag, so in that case, if she wouldn't have been as observant as she was something could have easily happened to Willow if she had eaten them.

.burn me once, shame on me, burn me twice, there will not be a third!

Jaime is this a Bushism???  LOL

I don't think that it is so much the Diamond issue as it is a total lack of communication with the consumers. To me, this is just totally unacceptable.
For instance, this morning I had a question for Eagle Pack, sent the email and by noon had a response which more than fully answered my question! That's customer service.
A company's integrity says ALOT about the products they produce! If you don't trust someone, how can you possibly believe what they are telling you? TWO has NOT earned my trust just from what I've heard from all the hu-bub on here. I would be very hesitant in buying their product simply for this reason.
Let's count the number of (IMO) serious issues, just in the last few months, with TWO.
    1- mislabeled products
    2- improper packaging
    3 - mixed product
    4 - false advertising
    5 - miscommunication
    6 - lack of communication

I am sure there are some I've missed, so feel free to add to the list.
How could ANYONE trust a company with this type of track record? OH, but the product is great!

I don't think people should turn off of a product if they haven't had any problems with it themselves...

....and the people who did....nothing bad happend to their dogs, right?

I'm sorry I just can't wrap my head around these statements. Personally I am going to take every possible precaution with my pets health and not wait until after I myself have a problem to quit using a company with known quality control issues.

I quit using TO, not because of Diamond, but because:

I received a shipment of 3.3 lb Wilderness Elk bags with no production code and no expiration date.
I have had multiple bags of Wilderness Elk and Wild & Natural that had odd pieces of kibble in them.
I have never received a response (other than automated) to any e-mails.
I have never received a response to any phone calls.
The ingredients on the website do not match the ingredients on the bags.
The ingredients on the bags do not match the product in the bag.

I'm sure there's more... but that was more than enough for me.

No, I'm not comfortable with the fact that the food is produced by Diamond, but, had they answered the inquiries in a manner such as Solid Gold did, I would feel a whole lot better about it.

Honestly, I hope that they get straightened out some day. I like TO, at least what they say in theory. I'd like to be able to feed their two grain-free formulas exclusively and know that I was getting a good product and that it was as advertised. My dogs like the taste of TO the best of anything, although their coats and muscle tone look better on Canidae. But again, I'm just not willing to take chances with them.
