    As I've said in another vegan thread, I wouldn't feed Roxie a vegan dog food.  Not unless it was a last resort and the only thing left to feed her. 
     
    And I'd never even consider one for Trixie.  A vegan diet would definitely worsen her health, not improve it.

    Thanks, Chelsea Vegans aren't from another planet. I'm vegan, and I feed raw. I eat Oreos (they're vegan! check the label). I eat french fries. Most of my diet isn't Oreos and french fries, but I do indulge, from time to time.

     
    I wish gummybears didn't have gelatin in it.....yuck....[:-]
     
    But, they do have vegan gummybears on the internet.[;)]

    I think it's simply a shame. That's about all there is to it. I think it's equally shameful for dog food companies to produce and endorce vegetarian diets for NON-herbivorous animals (whether a dog is an omnivore or a carnivore is debated, and of course cats are obligate carnivores).
     
    I personally wouldn't buy any commercial food from a dog food company that endorsed vegan or vegetarian diets for dogs, no matter how "good" their meat-based products are.  But then again, soon enough I'll be doing prey-model raw so I won't have to worry about that anyhow. [:D]

    My  sister is a vegetarian (but thank god not vegan) and truly supports raw feeding. When I'm not home or at school, she is in charge of feedings, and feeds the dog her preference base with  tons of meat. The preference is the only veggies my dog get. I feed her enough for a 10 pound dog, even though she's about 30.

    I think this is more acceptable, IMO with vegetarians than vegans. You'll have some of those hardcore vegans from PETA who feed stict vegan diets who are constantly sending their dogs to the vet and are wondering why the dog is dying.



    I'm not sure if I was the one who started the "what vegan eats" thing, but I was kind of making a generalization. I know not ALL vegans completely hate raw diets for dogs, but it seems that extremists would.
