Stef w Posted : 1/10/2007 11:51:09 AM Hi!   I'm switching to Volhard and I wanted to know if raw meat should be frozen for a period of time before feeding it to the dogs?  Is there any benefit to doing so?  Are there serious dangers if you don't?   Thanks so much! It won't kill bacteria although they will go dormant, but freezing meat at or below a certain temperature kills parasitic cysts like toxoplasmosis. According to an article in the New York Times toxoplasmosis is in about 8 percent of beef and 20 percent of lamb and pork.
