What to do?

I recently received a 12.5 lb of natural balance from petfooddirect.com. When it arrived there was a small hole on the side of the bag. I called them today and they are sending me another bag. What should I do with the bag w/the hole? Is it okay to feed to my dog?

I wouldn't just to be safe. It probably just happened while being moved but, never can r/o mice or rats that carry disease or bugs.

It is more than likely fine for your dog. The question is how fresh it would be but your dog is built to eat far worse than less fresh bag of dog food.

If it looks OK and smells OK, then I would probably feed it. I have bags of food at home that got torn during unloading (I'm a clutz) and sat on the floor for a month before opening and I find that perfectly fine. If you're not sure, just feed what you have to until the next bag arrives and then throw it away.

If you think it may have gotten damp, or the food looks abnormal in any way, don't feed it.
