Seventeen years ago last month this pitiful stray pregnant cat showed up at my middle brothers house. Almost immedietaly she had 6 kittens. But she was so sick and she had no milk. My brother and his wife got stuff from the vet and they bottle fed this kittens every two hours for , oh a couple of weeks, I guess and then started going long between feedings as the kittens could take more at a time. J & H had not kids at that time (later adopted 2) and Jeff was a fireman (now retired) and worked 24 on, 48 off. When he was at the station, it was u to H to feed the kittens that entire 24 hours. One did die early on.
Anyway, I was up there and I fell in love with this little black kitten with white paws in the front (they wre calling her Mittens) and in the back, her feet and legs to her knees were white. Also a white patch on chest. and white whiskers. She was the only female. I took her and named her Pippi Longstocking after that little girl in children's books and movies. She comes to Pippi or her nickname of Pipster. She is the m ost unusual cat i have ever known in my 61 years. She had to strat being an outside at age 3 when she decided not to use the litter box any more (no matter what litter we tried) and use the bathtub or a closet floor instead.
Well, she has never roamed any more distance than the yards on either side of us. She has "cat house" on the front porch and also access to the garage. Her best pals isn't the cats on the right of us, but the mama chihuahua on the other side. They will let the mom and dad and 3 kids out (the kids are 1 1/2 now) and the mama and Pippi run right to each other. Pippi is double or more the size of Tara, but that doesn't matter to either. The daddy dog and the "puppies" are scared of her. They will run at her barkin and making all kinds of noises and when she walks towards them, they tuck and run just a hollering.
Oh, well, enought about Pippi, but I think it a cheerful story for so early in the morning.
