I had been having trouble with Ogre's diet since I got him, as per this thread: [link

I had been messing with his diet constantly and no matter what I did, he either had a crappy coat and skin trouble, or a nice coat and constant diarrhea, and I never could seem to figure out the right balance for him. I finally got it- 2 meals of Blue Buffalo Fish and Potato, and 1 raw meal a day. Plus Missing Link supplement, but half the reccomended dose. I think what was getting to him was the extreme variety...my other dogs did well on it but he just couldn't handle it. He was obviously not getting everything he needed from the kibble, but EVERYTHING else he was getting was just too much. So I switched the type of Blue Buffalo he was getting (Lamb and Rice to Fish and Potato,) and put him only on that for a week. As usual, his poops firmed up, but he started looking crappy in a matter of days. So I slooooowly added some meat to his diet, and a smaaaall amount of Missing Link, and while he got squirty of a day or two, it's cleared up soon after.
Then, sometime last week I came home to a beautiful dog. A beautiful dog who went outside and pooped a totally normal, solid poop. I don't think I've been so happy in a long time. [

I'm still adding different raw meats to his diet, and I think once he's used to all of the components of a raw diet, I'll start sloooowly phasing out the kibble. I think it was probably just the extreme variety I was throwing at him...my other dogs can handle it, and he can't. Axl, while he can't eat raw, took to the variety of the diet I was giving him right away and benefited from it. Pepito looked stunning on raw after about 4 days of detoxing. I just had never experienced a dog this sensitive to food changes and I was probably just expecting him to get used to too much, too fast.
Anyway, I just wanted to share. This is my first week with Ogre as a pretty dog WITHOUT an explosive bottom. Hooray for no more poop puddles in the hallways! [sm=dance.gif]
